Prospects Take NE Regional 11-3

It was Memorial Weekend and the scent of barbecue filled the air, which set the stage for a great three days of baseball. Twenty teams from all over the Northeast gathered at the New England Baseball Complex in Northborough, Massachusetts with the same goal: to advance to the 13u National Championship.

The PG Super25 13u Regional, along with the previous 10u-12u events, was deemed “a success across the board” by the Director of Media and Marketing Relations at the New England Baseball Complex, Peter Batchelder.

“The event went smoothly, and was well attended by not only competing teams, spectators and parents, but also attracted well-known brands like Body Armor sports drink,” said Batchelder.

The tournament featured newcomers such as the Youth Service League Cobras and Hank’s Yanks from New York and Connecticut respectively. Hank’s Yanks were winners of Pool D, and joined the likes of the Legends Prospects, New England Ruffnecks, and the CT Bombers in the semi-finals.

The one loss Ruffnecks made quick work of the CT Bombers in their 5-1 semi-final victory which earned them a spot in the regional championship game against the Prospects. Fresh off of a convincing 7-0 win over Hank’s Yanks, the Prospects looked to continue their offensive tear.

In the championship game, the Ruffnecks got on the board early. However, their 1-0 advantage did not last long as the Prospects’ offense picked up where it had left off. Thanks to solid hitting and a couple of errors by the opposing defense, the Prospects headed into the 2nd inning with a 5-1 lead.

Leading up to the championship, the Prospects surrendered no more than three runs to any of their regional opponents, and this game was no exception. The Ruffnecks were limited to just three runs while the Prospects’ bats remained hot.

In four masterful innings, the Prospects churned out 11 runs on 13 hits to improve their record to 6-0 on the weekend. The offensive charge was led by #3 John Mulready and #36 Lucas Garcia. Mulready led the team with three RBIs, while Garcia tallied three extra base hits courtesy of a pair of doubles and a triple.

On the defensive side, #28 Will Jones kept the Ruffnecks’ bats in check by allowing only four hits in five innings of work. The play of the Legends throughout the tournament earned praise from the Ruffnecks’ pitching coach and Director of Operations at the New England Baseball Complex, Jason Kosow:

"The PG Super25 13U championship game was a continuation of the great effort for the Legends, who played superbly throughout the tournament and were a dominant force with every team.”

With the regional championship victory, the Prospects earned a berth in the 13u Perfect Game Super25 National Championship scheduled for June 19-25 in Fort Myers, Florida.

The start of another high school season is right around the corner in a handful of states and with that, as always, comes our Preseason High School Top-50. A whopping twenty states are represented in the initial Top-50, a number that is staggering when you look at the amount of depth some of these rosters have across the nation. Leading the group is St. John Bosco (CA), a team that brought home a CIF Southern D1 title in 2025 and bring back a strong group of seniors to look to repeat. Stoneman Douglas (FL) is a name most people should know by now in the high school ranks and comes in as our preseason #2 team, looking to win their sixth straight state championship in Florida. Orange Lutheran (CA) had a good case for preseason #1 but come it an No. 3, bringing a roster with seven seniors ranked inside the top-200 in the country to the table. Four other Florida schools are represented...
