PG Spring Frost Notebook

Termarr Johnson (2022, Atlanta, Ga.) was a member of the 2018 14u PG Select Festival and with good reason. The lefthanded hitting infielder was all over the field for MGBA this weekend showing off ultra-advanced defensive actions and multiple tools. The lefthanded hitter swings with a well-timed leg kick to begin his stroke and is able to get his hands to the baseball with fluidity.




Blake Grimmer (2023, Spring Lake, Mich.) was one of multiple Motor City Hit Dogs with a high-level skillset over the weekend. Grimmer has a lefthanded swing that projects as well as his 6-foot-1, 155-pound frame. The primary shortstop manned the position well with good range and all kinds of athleticism. Grimmer did nothing but hit the baseball hard to his pull side or take his walks over the weekend. The lefthanded swing is balanced and under control with easy juice already.




Colt Emerson (2023, Cambridge, Ohio) manned third base for a really talented Motor City Hit Dogs team during the weekend’s event. The 5-foot-8 lefthanded hitter has a smooth swing path with plenty of feel for putting the barrel of the bat on the baseball. His swing produces contact to all parts of the field staying direct with his hands and on a line drive plane. Emerson is young for his class and is a high level player already at his young age.

Sebastian Jaimes (2023, Lincoln Park, Mich.) is a physical catcher with a strong swing at the plate. Jaimes was one of the top backstops playing in the event with solid catch and throw ability and a strong arm. His strength at the plate comes from his frame as well as his lower half generating some bat speed and muscling the ball off of the barrel when on time.

Parker Brzustewicz (2023, Rochester Hills, Mich.) projects very well on the mound both in mecahanics and in stature. Standing at 5-foot-11, 130-pounds, Brzustewicz is a skinny and young framed righthander with a fastball that reaches 74 mph and the ability to locate a breaking ball in the strike zone. His mechanics are very clean with a working arm and a low effort delivery.

Devin Lee (2023, Hoover, Ala.) is one of the tallest players in attendance at the 14U PG Spring Frost and his frame is involved in his swing produced bat speed combined with strength to jump the baseball to either gap. Lee swings with intent whipping the barrel through the hitting zone and showcasing a barrel feel as well.

Destin Coursey (2023, Cumming, Ga.) is a quick-twitch middle infielder for Team Elite who swings that bat quickly and has an inept ability to put the barrel to the baseball. On multiple occasions over the weekend Coursey pulled the baseball with a high exit velocity for a line drive. The righthanded hitting middle infielder has a high motor on the field and is able to play at a high level consistently.

Jack Jones (2023, Grosse Pointe, Mich.) swung the bat really well over the weekend and pitched a pair of strong performances as well. On the mound, Jones combined to throw 4 2/3 innings in two games topping out at 79 mph with his fastball and featuring a curveball that shows plenty of potential. He takes a longer swing path with a two-handed finish, but repeatedly put the barrel to the baseball for hard contact over the weekend.

Jay Tuttle (2023, Owosso, Mich.) has a loose righthanded swing and solid barrel feel at the plate for Little Ceasers. Tuttle had a big day at the plate especially on Sunday going 8-for-13 (.615) for the tournament and collecting three hits in the semifinals. The righthanded swing is loose and balanced with some hand quickness present moving to the ball. There is a lot to like from Tuttle who is versatile and appeared at multiple positions for his team including behind the plate and in the outfield.

Ryan Knaebel (2023, Saint Clair Shores, Mich.) is one of the quickest players in the tournament with the ability to steal plenty of bags with good instincts and a bat to get him on base at a high level as well. Knaebel’s swing is mostly fluid with some barrel whip for his size. He put the baseball in play at a high rate during the PG Spring Frost and used his speed to produce disruption on the basepaths.

Cade Carr (2023, Hoover, Ala.) flashed the glove at shortstop especially on Sunday ranging to either direction making sharp plays defensively. Carr is a quick-twitch 5-foot-7 athlete with room to fill and time to continue to do so. He also mans the top of the Hoover Ridiculous lineup swinging a quick bat at the plate.

Dylan Lonergan (2023, Duluth, Ga.) had the best velocity on the mound of any player at East Cobb this weekend, but the command is still developing. Lonergan topped out at 88 mph with his fastball and sat mostly in the 85-86 mph range in his stint. Lonergan showed the ability to spin a tight breaking ball as well coming from a clean arm action and a strong 6-foot-1 frame.

Jake Lankie (2023, McDonough, Ga.) is a skinny and projectable two-way talent who features both a smooth lefthanded stroke and a fastball that tops out at 84 mph from his right arm. Lankie has an uptempo delivery with clean mechanics on the bump and the ability to hit the ball to all fields at the plate. Lankie pitched very well in his relief role on Sunday while going 4-8 (.500) with a double on the weekend.

Justice Haynes (2023, Alpharetta/Buford, Ga.) is a teammate of both Lonergan and Lankie who is physically advanced well beyond his years. Haynes has strength throughout his frame already and has the swing to be able to hit at a high level and for future power. On Sunday he made one of the best catches of the PG Spring Frost by moving to his left quickly in center field before fully extending for a diving grab in the outfield. Haynes has quickness as well that he showed on that play as well as on the basepaths.

Kyle Crow (2023, Linden, Mich.) pitched in the semifinals for the Motor City Hit Dogs and topped out at 83 mph with his fastball while sitting pretty consistently in the low-80s. Crow already stands at 6-foot-3, 170-pounds and is only going to continue to grow and fill out physically. Crow has a loose arm action on the mound and an online delivery. He releases the baseball from a three-quarters arm slot producing plenty of armside life to his heater. He flashed three pitches and has all the makings of an elite pitcher moving forward.

Drew Burress (2023, Perry, Ga.) has been noted previously while also being list on the initial 2023 High Follow List and the weekend’s Spring Frost event was no different as he swung the bat very well making loud and hard contact. Burress generates advanced bat speed for his size and age and, when on time, the ball jumps off of his bat. His instincts on the field and approach at the plate are all advanced as well for the outfielder from South Georgia.

Gavin Ehrhardt (2023, Norwalk, Ohio) was the starter for the Motor City Hit Dogs in the championship game while topping out at 83 mph a couple of weeks ago. His velocity did not quite reach that peak in this outing but it did touch 80 mph early. Ehrhardt’s arm action is compact as he hides the ball through the back well. He throws with intent while getting outstanding usage of his lower half driving down the mound.

AJ Ewing (2023, Dayton, Ohio) has a powerful swing at the plate and the raw bat speed from his lefthanded stroke projects well moving forward. Ewing is a lean 5-foot-7 and projects well physically with room to fill while only going to mature with additional strength over time. He manned second base and the three hole for 5 Star Midwest and did so while looking every bit of the part of a future big-time middle infielder.

Cameron Tilly (2023, Newburgh, Ind.) came into the game out of the bullpen for the Motor City Hit Dogs in the championship game of the tournament working in a three pitch mix with a fastball in the 82-84 mph range. His arm action is compact as well as his release but he fills up the strike zone working from his low effort and online delivery.

2026 Perfect Game Softball Turf Wars January 9-11 Ashley Mears   The 2026 season kicked off in impressive fashion at the Fun City Dome in Burlington, Iowa, featuring a highly competitive field across both age groups. The 18U division was loaded with talent, including over 20 Division I and II commits and several high-upside prospects, leading to intense bracket play and multiple walk-off finishes. Top 100 Collegiate Freshmen As we creep toward opening day here in a month or so, the draft team has put together the Top 100 sophomores on campus this spring.  This list is chalk full of talent, with future draft prospects littered top to bottom. The headliner of this group is Derek Curiel, a draft eligible sophomore that took the SEC by storm last spring. The Perfect Game All-American posted a .990 OPS over the course of a full season and is projected to vault himself further up the board during his ‘26 campaign. An electric arm in Dax Whitney follows up Curiel, with Strosnider, Lawson and Franco rounding out the top five.  Keep tabs on the draft eligible sophomores in this group come the summer. As we creep toward opening day here in a month or so, the draft team has put together the Top 100 freshmen on campus this spring.  Three high-end arms lead the way, starting with Jack Bauer. The Mississippi State left-hander reached triple digits as a prep and is sure to make an immediate impact this spring. UCLA right-hander Angel Cervantes was selected in the 2nd round of last year’s draft but held firm on his commitment and should be an impact arm for the Bruins. Following the arms, a collection of bats rounds out the Top 10. There is loads of upside to the group with the potential and they should draw considerable playing time as freshman.  As the list gets deeper, there are plenty of players that should pop up and make significant contributions both this year and years down the line.
