14u WWBA Coastal Scout Notes: Days 1 & 2

Perfect Game Staff      Todd Coffey
Jack Brodeur (2025, Durham, N.C.) got the start for Carolina Rockies Gold to begin pool play. Going two innings and only surrendering one run, Brodeur punched out four while flashing some swing-and-miss stuff that will continue to improve as he develops throughout high school. Up to 83 mph early in his first inning, the 6-foot-3, 175-pounder has the physical make up to be a power arm as develops on the mound and adds strength to his extra-large frame. Spraying the zone, Brodeur offers an uncomfortable at-bat for any 14-year-old. Contributing on both sides of the ball, the rising freshman gave the Rockies the lead in the fifth inning with a two-run double to left. A strong first game to open pool play, Brodeur will be one to follow the remainder of the tournament.

Ethan Willard (2025, Trinity, N.C.) provided some thump from the three-hole in Carolina Rockies Gold’s 5-2 win to open pool play. Going 3-for-3, highlighted by a two-run double in the bottom of the fifth to add some insurance to their lead, Willard showed his ability to stay through the middle of the field, flashing some power to the pull side. Displaying high bat-to-ball skills for his age, Willard’s aggressive approach paid off today, barreling up balls in all three of his trips to the plate.

On-Deck Baseball 14u CC’s Bryson Honeycutt, Connor Robertson, Sam Alessi, and Caden Beaver would combine to no-hit to kick off the 14u WWBA Summer Coastal Championship. Striking out a combined 12 batters, the four young arms all showed aggressiveness on the mound, filling the zone with strikes as they only allowed three walks that would be the only thing that would hold them from perfection.
