Hampton Phillips (2024, Sugar Land, Texas) tossed a five-inning shutout in the 4-0 victory for HP James 2024. The 5-foot-7, 150-pound primary middle infielder was thrusted into the role and came up huge in the fourth round of playoffs. Phillips featured a solid two-pitch mix that kept hitters off balance throughout the outing. The fastball got up to 86 mph in the early going, settling in right around 82 mph with some ride in the zone. A curveball with downer shape and good tunneling was mixed in for whiffs. The arm action is clean and loose, showing lively arm speed and feel to all four quadrants. The Sugar Land native is an above average athlete that showed he could come up huge on the mound when needed.
