Underclass Uncommitted Gems: Part 1

Although the WWBA Underclass World Championship unfortunately had to be canceled due to weather conditions in Fort Myers, the Perfect Game scouts have put together a list of uncommitted prospects who were set to attend the event. The weather may prevent these prospects from performing this week, but their talent and work up to this point still deserve to be highlighted.



Part 2 of the Underclass Uncommitted Gems features prospects from the Northeast and Midwest Regions, as well as Puerto Rico, Canada, and Florida.

Aidan Paradine, C, Bayonne, N.J. 
Class of 2024 | PG Rank: 206
Canes National 17U

Talk about playing both sides of the ball, Paradine provides loads of value on both the offensive and defensive ends. Posting a 1.79 pop time recently at the Northeast Top Prospect Games, Paradine displays effortless arm strength with quick compact mechanics, exploding out of the crouch while gaining tons of ground towards second base. The actions translate in game where the 6-foot, 190-pound prospect easily keeps runners at bay while also receiving cleanly behind the dish. Offensively, the righty has both contact and power tools present with hover to the leg trigger, swinging a heavy barrel with intent to do damage.

Elite Squad 17U

A name who might deserve some more attention than he’s currently getting, Kouser is another recent NE Top Prospect attendee who has ran his fastball up to 90 mph with clear feel for spin in the arsenal. The still super projectable 6-foot-5, 195-pound righty works from a clean repeatable delivery and full arm action, releasing from a three-quarter slot with the ability to tunnel a three-pitch, FB-CB-CH mix. All three offerings are effective at generating swing-and-miss with plenty of room for further velo development.

Artillery 2024 Scout Team

Sweeney has added to an already-tooled up game over the course of this spring/summer, flashing the effortless ability to hit for contact by posting a .367 average in 64 plate appearances during this year’s tournament cycle but also adding to the power potential with increased strength in the 6-foot, 170-pound frame. The ‘24 outfield prospect is a reliable piece on both sides of the ball, patrolling the outfield with easy range thanks to footwork and speed that has posted a 6.82 sixty yard dash in the past.

NE Pride ‘24 National

Spagnoli seems to have a velo jump every time you look away, now running his fastball up to 90 mph as of the Northeast Qualifier earlier this month. The strong-framed 6-foot, 190-pound righty has plenty of feel for spin in the arsenal with natural cutting action on the fastball as well as both a slider and changeup in the back pocket. He is a more than serviceable outfielder and handles the barrel well on the offensive end, putting the natural ability on display regardless of where he’s needed on the field.

Richmond Braves 17U Platinum

Bezick is the definition of a physical lefty, sporting a 6-foot-2, 190-pound frame on the mound with strength proportioned throughout. Recently up to 88 mph, Bezick gets down the mound with intent using a full stride and releasing from a borderline over-the-top slot. He has evident command of a three-pitch, FB-CB-CH arsenal with unique movement on each offering, the changeup flashing solid fading action with the same arm speed and look out of the hand. He has 29 strikeouts in 19 2/3 innings of work this summer.

Top Tier Americans 

Another duel threat in the form of Cha, who can certainly do damage on the offensive end while ultimately topping out at 89 mph on the bump. As a primary third base prospect, Cha displays natural clean actions from the hot corner with fluid transitions and footwork that make difficult plays look routine. He’s considered a physical righty on the bump, working from a 6-foot-4, 225-pound frame that flashes a two-pitch, FB-SL mix. He repeats the mechanics well with sinking action to the fastball for late reaction swings over the top. If that wasn’t enough, Cha also swings a heavy barrel at the dish with control and consistency to the stroke, posting an exit velo of 92 mph.

Cruz Luna, C, Crownsville, Md.

Cavaliers

Though young with plenty of time to develop and add to the 5-foot-9, 165-pound frame, Luna is an interesting name to watch with natural athleticism in multiple aspects of his game. Defensively, he provides value and reliability behind the dish, receiving cleanly out in front while gaining ground in the footwork to post a 2.07 pop time that is surely going to be sub-2.00 sooner rather than later. The arm action is quick and compact with accurate throws on the bag. Offensively, Luna works from the left side with compact hand speed and young power potential that has posted a .400 average in 40 plate appearances this summer.

2024 Tri State Arsenal Marucci 

VanOstenbridge is another arm to keep an eye on from the left side as the 5-foot-9, 165-pound, still-projectable build is already up to 86 mph with more velocity development expected to come. Using a full over-the-top slot and simple operation, he has feel for all quadrants of the zone and isn’t afraid to challenge hitters on the inner half. VanOstenbridge flashes an 11-5 shaped curveball with vertical depth as his primary off-speed offering with further room to develop the arsenal and become even more difficult to hit. He has a 1.40 ERA with 28 strikeouts through 14 2/3 innings this summer.

Keegan Deihl, RHP, Mars, Pa.

US Elite 2024 PA

Another name who might fly under the radar, Deihl has put up a 1.60 ERA with 26 strikeouts in 18 innings this summer, running his fastball up to 88 mph with natural movement present in the arsenal. He showcases a compact leg lift into the chest, working into the lower half well with solid push off from the back side to extend downhill. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound righty has plenty of arm speed and fullness to the action from an over the top slot, generating swing-and-miss effectively when in the zone.

Lou D'Alessio, OF, Red Bank, N.J.

East Coast Ghost 17U Platinum

A career .425 hitter in PG tournaments with over 700 plate appearances, D’Alessio has grown and developed the natural tools year after year before our eyes. Currently standing at 5-foot-10, 150 pounds, it’s safe to say that strength and projection isn’t done yet with both contact and young power attributes present on the offensive end with athleticism and quickness in the outfield. He can also swipe some bags on the basepaths and create havoc for defenses, only adding to the possible value D’Alessio can bring to a lineup.

De Castro simply rakes. The left-handed hitter has a high-level blend of hit and power and has shown the ability to produce against very good arms. He is also good with the glove and the arm will play easily at third base. He should play early on at the next level.

Palm Beach Select 2024 National

Agriesti has bad intentions in the box and uses his compact swing and strong hands to create very loud contact. He controls the zone well and has an advanced middle-of-the-field approach. The right-handed hitter invites velocity and turns it around quickly.

Niko Benestad, 1B, Parkland, Fla.

Benestad has been a middle-of-the-order run producer since he started his PG career. Whether it be at Majory Stoneman Douglas, one of the very best high school programs in the country every year or at PG events, Benestad rolls the pole. He has an eye-popping 712-at bats during PG events and has produced a 1.200 OPS.

Dylan Jordan, RHP, Melbourne, Fla.

Power Baseball 2024 Marucci

Jordan has a ton of projection in this 6-foot-1, 175-pound frame and has loads of athleticism to help portend the considerable upside. He has an upper-80s heater with lots of life and has made solid strides with his control. There is a solid three-pitch arsenal and it should turn into swing-and-miss stuff as it continues to tick up.


Andreas Alvarez, RHP, Largo, Fla.

MVP Florida 2024

Alvarez is coming off a big event at the Sophomore WWBA in terms of stuff where he started 90-92 in the first and was still holding 91 bolts in the fourth. The slider is sharp with lots of depth and got some gnarly swing-and-miss at times. As the command comes this could be a very consistent workhorse righty.

Alejandro Sardinas, SS, Miramar, Fla.

Milwaukee Brewers Scout Team

Sardinas has a great 6-foot-1, 150-pound frame to build on and he is a rangy defender at shortstop with soft hands and excellent transfer skills. He has all the tools to stay at the position long term. The bat has been pretty consistent as he uses the whole field to spray line drives and keep a high average. As he adds muscle the impact should organically come.

Cole Huddleston, 3B, Palm Harbor, Fla.

Top Tier Roos National 2024

Huddleston is an absolute grinder. He has winning traits on both sides of the ball and is tough as nails. He is a savvy defender with good hands and should be able to be very versatile on the diamond. The hit tool and gritty at-bats stand out most though.


Maddix Simpson, SS, Lehigh Acres, Fla.

Power Baseball 2024 Marucci

Simpson had an excellent high school season at Florida powerhouse Bishop Verot. Then followed it with a huge summer hitting .357 with 12 extra-base hits while walking more than he struck out. He has a chance to stick at shortstop and if he outgrows the position, he should easily be a very good defender at the hot corner.

Clayton Evans, C, Lake Placid, Fla.

Scorpions 2024 Scout

Evans is a well-rounded backstop with good catch-and-throw skills and will do the little things for his staff. He has some thump with the bat and should be able to change a game with one swing as his body fills out. There is plenty of ability to mold at the next level.

Florida Burn 2024 Scout Team

St. Onge has been a consistent two-way performer on the circuit for a couple summers. He has upper-80s heat on the bump and is as consistent as they come when it comes to making his marks and winning games. He also has some thump in the bat and that could also figure into his path at the next level.

Prospect Factory National

Physically imposing on the mound at 6-foot-3, 215 pounds, Bonet looks the part of a next level arm but is so at a younger age given his 2023 graduating class but still having eligibility to play in the Underclass. Bonet is already an alum of the Perfect Game National Showcase where he ran his fastball up to 90 mph, though we’ve seen him as high as 92 mph this summer in which he logged 11 innings and struck out 16 while walking just 2 with 7 hits against. Speaking of hits, Bonet possesses some real intent and strength in his left-handed swing, connecting for a few home runs this circuit with some real barrel whip and jump when he catches it out front.

5 Star National 17u Black

A two-time PG Select Festival alum and a former Florida International commit, Rivera has long shown his talents on both sides of the ball and for a school still looking for a backstop with some thump in the bat, Rivera might just be that guy. Strongly built at 5-foot-9, 170 pounds, Rivera continues to refine his overall game and does so while continuously finding the barrel at the plate as evidenced by his .425/.510/1.173 slash this summer circuit with 12 extra-base knocks, two of which cleared the fences as he’s capable of producing exit velocities into the low-90s on any given stroke. Defensively he showcases a quick exchange with a compact arm stroke, solid present arm strength and consistent actions that translate well into live action.

Hiram III Bocachica, SS, Bayamon, P.R.

PRBAHS

Bocachica caught the eye of Perfect Game scouts earlier this year in March at the WWBA Jupiter Qualifier in San Juan which proved to the be the first of his three All-Tournament selections after hitting north of .300 in each showing. While not overly physical at 5-foot-7, 155 pounds, Bocachica is ranked as high as he is for good reason as he’s capable of making an impact on either side of the ball in a variety of ways. He’s a prototypical leadoff hitter in that he'll work counts and take his free bases, but he also possesses more strength in his right-handed stroke than you’d assume while truly utilizing an all-fields approach. Jump over into the dirt and he’s a standout defender with advanced actions, from his lateral range to overall glove work and arm strength, showing a complete set of tools which all play at a high level. 

Harold Laracuente, SS, Ponce, P.R.
Class of 2024, PG Rank: 304

Suiting up for the Massachusetts-based NEB program for the WWBA Underclass, Laracuente is no stranger to playing stateside, nor is he unfamiliar with performing at a high level within Perfect Game events as evidenced with his showing at both the 16u WWBA and the 17u WWBA World Championships this past summer. Laracuente possesses a leanly built 5-foot-10 frame but he’s full of fast-twitch muscle and athleticism as evidenced by his 6.47 60-yard time as well with how he moves in the infield, attacking the baseball with softness to his hands before showing plenty of arm across the diamond. The bat-to-ball skills were there throughout the summer too, as he hit .373 on the year and shows a similar set up and stroke from both sides of the plate, generating nice present bat speed with some leverage out front. 

Derek Valentin, C, Manati, P.R.
Class of 2024, PG Rank: 500
Prospect Factory National 2024

The son of long-time big leaguer Javier Valentin, a third round pick and 10-year veteran, Derek goes about his craft with a sense of polish to his overall game, whether it’s behind the plate or with a bat in his hands. The last time we at Perfect Game saw the strongly built 5-foot-9, 180-pound Valentin he was taking home MVP honors from the 16u PR Summer Classic in which he hit .429 (with four of his six knocks going for doubles) while scoring 7 runs with 3 stolen bags. That plays well in his right-handed swing as the ball jumps off of the barrel with authority, in part because of how consistent and compact his swing is which allows for lots of barreled contact while showing more than enough quickness in his hands. A 6.87 runner, Valentin also shows quick and clean actions behind the plate which he repeats well and shows nice accuracy on his throws. 


Alex Bruno, SS, San Juan, P.R.

Prospect Factory National 2024

Bruno is a lean and athletically-built shortstop out of San Juan whose athleticism is evident from his 6.7 speed in the 60 to the way he bounces around the infield dirt. His actions on defense are as smooth as they are repeatable as he moves with balance and shows clean glove skills before showing solid arm strength across the diamond with nice present carry. The defense/speed combination are certainly big starting points in the profile for Bruno but he also shows things to like at the plate, especially as he continues to fill out his 6-foot, 170-pound frame. His wrists and hands already shows lots of strength and quickness to them, allowing him to work to all parts of the field with authority while firing hips well through as well. Bruno is a younger shortstop prospect for the class as a 2023 graduate and he shows intriguing tools on both sides that’ll only continue to improve.

Team Elite PR

We’ll get to see Guzman plenty over the next two weeks as he rostered for both the Underclass as well as the World Championships in Jupiter the following week. Another sone of a big leaguer, Edwards Guzman, Jaden had a very strong showing at the Jupiter Qualifier in March where he hit .500 on the tournament with 4 doubles, got on base at a .571 clip and came around to score 7 runs. Still plenty projectable at 6-foot, 170 pounds, Guzman does a nice job of maximizing and getting the most out of his frame in each swing and has the requisite tools to hit either atop a lineup or potentially develop into a middle of the order type at physical maturation. Either way, there’s a chance he’ll make noise in Florida with the stick while letting his overall athleticism take over in the outfield as well.

Prospect Factory National 2024

Everywhere Rosa went this calendar season, he seemed to come away with an All-Tournament honor, meaning he routinely found the barrel and collected his knocks in each showing. On the year he slashed .393/.520/1.109 and continues to make strides offensively as he keep growing into his broad shouldered and long limbed 6-foot-2 frame. Listed as a primary first baseman, it looks like Rosa should develop the type of power often associated with the position as he took a big offensive step in 2022 given the life he’s already able to produce off of the barrel when he squares it up. And though he looks to do damage each at-bat, Rosa isn’t afraid to take his free passes as he walked 15 times compared to 12 strike outs, showing discipline while looking for his pitch.

Luft is a two-way threat who handles himself well on both sides of the baseball. Luft primarily works a fastball/slider combination on the mound with the fastball being up to 85 mph earlier this summer. Punched out 25 hitters over 16 2/3 on the mound this summer. In the box he’s able to find the barrel with good actions in the outfield, throwing 89 mph from the outfield as well.

Brandon De Goti, SS, Miami, Fla.

De Goti has plenty to like in the box. Smooth stroke from the right side, with strength showing in the frame. Good swing path through the zone being able to match planes well and produce line drives. Hit .395 this summer with 18 extra-base hits. Also up to 88 mph on the mound this summer, showing some arm talent.

Donovan Rabiei, LHP, Jacksonville, Fla.

Florida Burn 2024 Scout Team

Rabiei has shown off his arm this summer with extremely intriguing pitchability. His fastball is up to 87 mph from the left side and he holds the mid-80s well. He’s got a great changeup that is deceptive with arm-side fade to it. Mixes in a slider with good lateral movement from a three-quarters slot. Challenges hitters with tough looks from the left side.

Echevarria has hit well this summer, finding ways to drive the ball, impacting it well working pull-side. Has a good feel for the barrel with some strength in the frame. Stands out behind the plate. Really good catch-and-throw, gaining ground with a quick release on throws down to second.

Dynasty

Soto has a strong build that shows in the swing, being able to leverage the ball and drive it. Simple load and stride mechanics to get through the zone, showing a feel for the barrel. Up to 87 mph on the bump with athletic movements down the mound. Has a 12-6 breaking ball with downer break he can turn to as well.

Seamus Gallagher, RHP, Wesley Chapel, Fla.

5 Star Tampa Gold

Gallagher has plenty to like with his performance on the mound. Gets extended moving down the mound, works over-the-top up to 88 mph on the heater this summer. Has shown a 12-6 breaker as well. Tunnels pitches well and is able to miss barrels and induce whiffs.

Scorpions 2024 Scout

Krak has desirable traits on the mound with smooth mechanics through release. Quick arm stroke working from a three-quarters slot. Fastball works the mid-80s and was up to 89 mph this summer. The pitch has life and pairs with a 11-5 shaped breaking ball. Has a changeup in the repertoire as well. Induces whiffs on a three-pitch mix.

Nick Wimberly, RHP, Merritt Island, Fla.

Artillery 2024 Scout Team

Wimberly has a long and projectable frame. He gets extended and creates some hip-shoulder separation. Works from a high-three quarters slot with a stellar pitch mix. Fastball was up to 90 mph this summer with some ride. Spins an 11-5 shaped breaking ball with good feel for the pitch to induce swings-and-misses.

Rylan Lujo, SS, Parkland, Fla.

Lujo has an athletic frame with plenty to like about what he can do in the box. Frame projects with strength showing, being able to get on plane with pitches and drive them. Quick hands through the zone with bat speed showing. Hit .465 this summer. Smooth actions in the field with a snatchy glove.

Michael Greenberg, 2B, Port Richey, Fla.

5 Star Tampa Gold

Greenberg was solid in the leadoff spot for his team this summer. Constantly finding ways to get on base. He’s direct to the ball and has shown the ability to get extended and get the barrel to the ball. Matches planes and produces solid contact, including 6 doubles and 3 triples this summer. Worked at-bats and produced a .461 on-base percentage as well.

Aren Robinson, 1B, Brookfield, Wis.

Hitters 2024 Grads

Robinson is a very physical first baseman who has made his presence known at Perfect Game events. Listed at 6-foot-4, 200 pounds, Robinson hits from a narrow vertical setup with rhythm in his approach. There is natural elevation in his swing, projecting for potential plus power at the next level. This will be a power bat to follow.

Nolan Buss, RHP, Pewaukee, Wis.

Hitters 2024 Grads

Buss has a long track record of success at PG events, accumulating 31 strikeouts over 14 2/3 innings pitched with only eight hits allowed in the last three years. His fastball has reached as high as 91 mph this fall in his start at the Midwest Labor Day Classic, striking out 12 hitters over 4 2/3 innings pitched. Buss has a longer arm swing on the back side, into a lower three-quarters arm slot creating deception for batters. Also has flashed a solid slider, that has potential to be an out pitch at the next level.

Jackson Brewer, 1B/LHP, Mequon, Wis.

Hitters 2024 Grads

Brewer has been on a hot streak this year at PG events, going 11-for-24 at the plate with 12 RBI. Brewer is a left-handed first baseman and pitcher who has size and athletic ability to compete as a two-way at the next level. In the box, he hits from a medium base and shows quick hands that have the ability to handle velocity well. On the mound, he pounds the zone with a low-80s fastball. Projectable athlete who will be one to follow over the next few years.

Grayson Flugaur, RHP, Franklin, Wis.
Class of 2024 | PG Rank: High Follow

Flugaur is a medium-framed athlete who really can compete on the mound. In early September, Flugaur went five innings on the mound and recorded 10 strikeouts, not allowing a single hit in Hitters 2024's run-rule victory. His fastball sits in the low- to mid-80s, topping out at 85 mph. There is some natural life in the zone, on his fastball. He mixes in a slide/curveball combo that keeps batters off-balance and true to their approach.

William Hoerner, C, Appleton, Wis.

Hitters 2024 Grads

When you watch Hoerner, his defensive ability stands out first and foremost. There is leadership ability and true field general skills in Hoerner’s game that will undoubtedly translate to the next level. His hands are soft behind the plate, and hips are flexible when receiving and blocking. His hit tools are continuing to develop and translating to in-game results at PG events, but his approach is there. His swings are smooth too, as a left-handed hitting catcher is desired by coaches.

Michael Valdivia, SS, Elkhorn, Neb.

Spects National

Valdivia plays the game with energy and flare that immediately stands out on the field. His actions are smooth and clearly translate to the next level. His arm strength is currently above average with carry across. In the box, he is a switch-hitter who has bat-to-ball skills from both sides of the plate. He is an athlete and has the ability to help teams win.

Brady Lash, LHP/1B, Medina, Minn.

P2P Millers Kirkwold

Lash is your prototypical crafty lefty. Lash is going to go out on the mound and compete every pitch. As a left-handed pitcher, he features a three-pitch mix for strikes with ability to command them low in the zone. His fastball has reached as high as 85 mph, sitting in the low-80s often. His curveball has 1/7 action with sharp break. He also swings it well, having a career .398 batting average at PG events with only six strikeouts in 113 plate appearances.

Rocco Loffredo, RHP/1B, Stilwell, Kan.

Elite National 24/25

Loffredo is hard to miss on the field, given his 6-foot-5, 175-pound frame. Loffredo came onto the Perfect Game scene in August this year, attending the Midwest Prospect Games and Midwest Top Prospect. He recorded throws of 87 mph across the infield and a fastball that topped at 86 mph off the mound. There is natural leverage and ability on the mound, throwing a downhill two-plane fastball in the mid-80s. Off-speed is continuing to develop, but given the size and athletic ability there is confidence that those pitches will be groomed easily at the next level.

Alvarez is a quick-twitch athlete who has some versatility on the defensive side of the ball. He has smooth, athletic actions on the infield who has arm strength to stay on the left side, long term. Over the last year at PG events, Alvarez has hit .400 with nearly as many extra-base hits as he has strikeouts. The bat-to-ball skills are obvious and stand out over the course of an at-bat.

Jack Bauer, LHP, Frankfort, Ill.

Top Tier Roos American 2024

Bauer is a high level left-handed pitcher, still on the market in the state of Illinois. He jumped into the rankings recently and made a big impression down at the Sophomore WWBA. He recorded two strikeouts in one inning pitched this week, while walking none in his first appearance. His fastball reached 89 mph, with natural run and carry through the zone. Huge upside with Bauer, who is going to be one of the most sought after underclassmen.

Matt Brown, RHP/INF, Carlisle, Ontario

Brown is an intriguing uncommitted arm to keep an eye on. He’s a sound mover down the slope with good life to his fastball that lives in the high-80s. He checks a ton of boxes with much more in store projection wise in his lean 6-foot-5, 185-pound frame.

Cisneros brings plenty of athleticism on both sides as a solid talent. The arm really pops. He shows good command of a high-80s fastball with feel for three distinct off-speeds along with a changeup with good deception and shape out of the hand. Also flashes a tight slider with late bite. Cisneros boasts a long, lean pitcher’s build that bodes well for physical projection. He’s got a good amount of upside and can impact a program right away.

Jackson Sheehy, UTL, Guelph, Ontario

Sheehy offers plenty of defensive versatility on the dirt and is an active defender. He shows good instincts and quickness with softer hands for smooth transfers. He has a strong arm capable of handling a corner infield spot or fill in the outfield with confident charges. At the plate, he brings a sound left-handed swing with good barrel control and all-fields contact. He’s got a strong set of hands and produces loud barrels. Sheehy is one to watch closely going forward.

Top Tier Roos National 2024

Kohler is a consistent performer who always seems to get the job done defensively and offensively. He has good control of the bat head and is a tough out at the plate while drawing a fair number of walks along the way. His actions on the dirt are smooth with the body control and lateral range to make all the plays. Kohler is a sound player overall with a skill set that should transfer seamlessly to the next level.

Lucas Ramirez, OF/1B, Weston, Fla.

Ramirez has a strong, athletic build at 6-foot-3, 194 pounds with budding power potential. His batting practice at the 2022 Underclass All-American Games offered a glimpse into the type of player he can be. He punished baseballs, showing very good bat speed while using his leverage to lift the ball with loud consistency off the bat. It will be intriguing to watch how the power plays in game against some of the top competition in the country.

Anthony Quigley, 3B/IF, OF, RHP, Sunrise, Fla.

Loose and athletic would be a perfect way to sum up how Quigley plays all over the diamond. He is super projectable at 6-foot-3, 185 pounds and in less than a year has made an 8 mph jump in fastball velocity, topping 87 mph with consistency. The gains in strength are evident with the bat too as there was some noticeably quicker bat speed and rotation in the hips in my last look. Quigley will have a chance to show off his steady development and improvement at this week’s tournament.

Alejandro Vazquez, SS/IF, Coral Springs, Fla.

Scorpions 2024 Scout

Defense is Vazquez’s calling card and it’s easy to see why. The slick fielding shortstop plays light on his feet with high energy and a quick first step. He has a solid arm that plays up due to his fast release and soft hands. The fluid right-handed stroke will be monitored closely but it shows evidence of some pop. The glove and defensive actions should give him plenty of opportunities to play in college.

Joshua Haad, RHP, Margate, Fla.

Dynasty

Haad hasn’t given up an earned run in over two years pitching on the national circuit. He is a fiery competitor who has a knack for preventing runs despite traffic on the basepaths. The fastball jumps on hitters in the upper-80s, showing big cutting life at times. Haad can be more of a thrower than a pitcher at times, but the arm strength and projection cannot be overlooked. With added strength and more repetitions, the sky is the limit.

Jackson LaLima, SS/2B, 3B, Bradenton, Fla.

Florida Burn 2024 Scout Team

Over half of LaLima’s hits this summer were for extra bases. He is a line drive machine with a sound gap-to-gap approach and enough strength to leave the yard at times. LaLima hacks with intent, showing quick hands with a bat path that stays on plane for an extended amount of time. He could blossom into a doubles machine with the potential to stay in the middle of the diamond.

Kustarr Webb, 1B/C, RHP, SS, Jacksonville, Fla.

GBSA Ray Premier Scout 2024

All Webb has done this summer is hit. His .442/.516/1.348 slash looks as if it came off a video game. Webb’s swing is upper half-dominant with strong, fast hands and extremely quick rotation acceleration in the torso. There is legitimate juice to all fields and a keen eye to go with it. Webb has walked more than he’s struck out and I’m excited to see him against some of the best arms in the country.

Roman Keister (2030, Dade City, FL) Could not miss the barrel this weekend tallying 6 hits including 2 triples and 4 RBI. Starts the load early and controls his body well, the up the middle approach really plays in game. Also worked from off the mound for an inning and picked up a punch out.  Colton Russo (2030, Coral Springs, FL) Showed off the power burning outfielders all weekend. 5 hits including two triples that carried over the CF and RF heads. Has a good understanding about using the lower half in the swing and the bat to ball skills really impressed.  Karson Blakney (2030, St. Augustine, FL) Made his impact in a big way this week, collecting the win in the quarterfinals. Another week of conference play down and Johnson County continues there tear through the spring of 2026, they retain the top spot with Gaston nipping their heels at number 2 for the third consecutive week. McLennan jumps up to number 3 with a big series sweep over rival Texas powerhouse, Weatherford. Out west, Cochise just keeps rolling in the desert and California looks to be hotly contested all the way down the final stretch. A couple of debut appearances down the board with Harford, CCF, and Linn Benton all earning their spot on our top 25 for the first time in the first week of April. So many great records out there it will be interesting to see how it all shakes out with so many teams vying for seeding and conference championships on this final stretch run. This week's most significant development came in Division II, where North Greenville swept Young Harris in three consecutive one-run games to claim the top spot for the first time this season, knocking Tampa from a perch they've held most of the year. Brooks Mitchell-Birdsell (2027, Atkins, Iowa) was solid on both sides of the ball this weekend. He was able to show a clean move working into it, with the feel to impact it out in front and drive hard through contact. He had good barrel accuracy with feel to drive the ball well, especially working pull-side. He was 4-for-8 on the weekend with a double to his credit, driving in 7 runs as well. Mitchell-Birdsell also put together a good outing on the mound, delivering 2 innings of scoreless work with 3 punchouts. He worked the low 80s with some run, flashing a mid-70s curveball with good 11-5 shape and depth.  Maddux Mueller (2026, Amana, Iowa) LH bat with plenty to like in the batter’s box, and he put together a solid showing this weekend. April 7th Perfect Game/Player of the Week:  Andrew Williamson, OF, UCF  The UCF Knights (20-9) are coming off one of their biggest series victories in years when they went to Morgantown and took down the Mountaineers to take control of the Big 12 regular season standings.  The offense put on quite the performance and Andrew Williamson set the tone by leaving the yard in his first at-bat of the weekend launching a towering home run over the centerfield wall.  The 6-0/195 lefty from St. Petersburg, FL has one of the sweetest strokes in the college game today and when he goes, so do the Knights.  In the 3-game series, the junior collected 6 hits in his 10 at-bats, scoring 6 runs, on 5 walks, a double and he launched 3 home runs all told.  While he had a stretch earlier in the season where he was searching for his stroke a bit, he is getting locked in at the...

With another week in the books, some teams at the top continue to prove they are elite, and others continue to fall by the wayside.  Meanwhile, there were several teams that had been lingering outside the Top 25 that had huge weekends to put themselves in the thick of things as every weekend has significant consequences for good or for bad.  The No. 1 UCLA Bruins (29-2) have now pushed their win streak to an incredible 23-games as they swept USC (27-6) who was previously ranked No. 7 in the poll.  The Bruins are off to a perfect (15-0) start in Big Ten play and are without a doubt the most complete team in the country right now.  The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (26-5) move up to No. 2 this week after they dismantled now No. 12 Auburn (22-9) in the midweek and then swept Cal on the West Coast last weekend.  Texas (26-5) moves down one spot to No. 3 this week after...
