Class of 2027 Rankings Risers

Cooper Goff, OF/3B, Mountain Ridge HS (UT)

Goff had multiple strong showings throughout the fall both at the 2027 All American Games and at the PG Fall World Series. The 6-foot, 165-pound outfielder/third baseman has top end bat speed already with easy leverage in the left-handed swing. He’s as projectable as it gets in the class and the strength will continue to come in bunches in the coming years. The TCU commit wraps up 2024 hitting .405 over 42 at-bats with three homers and four doubles. He has all the tools and attributes to continue climbing in the future.




Demarcus Lowery, OF, Knoxville Catholic HS (TN)

Lowery was a standout performer throughout 2024 with strong showings at the plate in the summer/fall. He finished up the calendar year hitting .468 over 27 games with 14 extra-base hits including seven triples and four home runs. There’s an impressive amount of twitch in the box here and he can really run too. He controls the zone and will be a force at the top of the order for years to come. Lowery makes a huge jump of over 150 spots to right outside the T50 and could go even higher in 2025.


KJ Anderson, C, Cookeville HS (TN)

Anderson makes a big jump into the T100 after strong showings throughout the year. The left-handed hitting catcher performed extremely well in both the PG Fall World Series and the Underclass Worlds, making the all-tournament team in both. There’s an excellent blend of present bat speed and strength with a real knack for finding the barrel. The bat certainly stands out but the catch and throw skills behind the plate are also strong. He continues to trend up to end 2024 and will continue to be a name to follow in 2025.


Maxwell Stewart, 1B/OF, Cathedral Catholic (CA)

Stewart makes a jump of over 100 spots firmly inside the T100 in the country after a stellar showing at Sophomore Worlds, where he took home the MVP honors. He’s as physical as it gets at 6-foot-2, 190-pounds and the strength translate nicely to the left-handed swing. He shows the ability to impact the ball well to the pull-side consistently. The San Diego native wraps up 2024 hitting .476 in ten games and is a name that could continue trending up in 2025.


Ty Holt, C, Greenwood HS (AR)

Holt was a consistent performer throughout the summer/fall and it culminates in a jump into the T100 in the class to end 2024. It’s a well-rounded profile with natural feel for the barrel in the box and great catch/throw skills behind the plate. He capped his 2024 campaign with a strong showing at Underclass Worlds, hitting .750 over three games with two doubles to his name. Holt is a favorite of our Midwest scouting staff and continues to trend up to end the year.


Hunter Wieckowski, RHP, Timber Creek HS (FL)

Wieckowski showed all types of things to love on the mound throughout 2024 in both the summer and the fall and it translates with a jump of over 200 spots to #121 in the country. He’s a tall and lean 6-foot-2, 180-pound right-hander that consistently works into the upper-80s. The feel to spin is excellent and he shows multiple breaking balls with distinct shape along with a changeup that he kills spin on. This has all the makings of a top end arm and justifiably flies up the rankings in this update.


Malachi Butler, SS, McEachern HS (GA)

Butler is one of the younger players in the class and just turned 15 a few months ago. He’s a lean 6-foot, 175-pound left-handed hitting middle infielder with natural barrel skills and the frame projects well. The Georgia native has continued to grow into some power and will continue to do so in the coming years. He can pick it up the middle too and continues to make big jumps each time we update. I have a feeling this won’t be the last big jump for Butler.


Jace Riggan, SS/RHP, North Florida Christian (FL)
Previous Rank: 322 | Current Rank: 136 

Riggan is a primary shortstop but the arm talent may be too much to deny on the mound. He showed it off in Jupiter, playing up two grad classes for the East Coast Sox. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound right-hander worked 88-91 with a tight breaking ball mixed into the mix that he could manipulate the shape of. He also had a strong showing at the plate at 15u WWBA, hitting .556 with a homer and seven RBI, making him an all-tourney member on both the hitting and pitching side. There’s a lot of two-way intrigue here and he jumps over 180 spots to end 2024.


Alexander Smith, MIF, North Broward Prep (FL)

Smith was a big winner at Sophomore Worlds to end his 2024 campaign. A campaign in which the left-handed hitter hit .357 with four triples in 21 games. He has a compact left-handed stroke with simple parts to the overall operation. The barrel control stands out and he projects well at the top of the order with more power coming as he continues to add strength in the coming years. Smith makes a big jump to end 2024 and could continue going up if he performs like this in 2025.


Matt Ritchie, RHP, St. Charles North HS (IL)

Ritchie put together a dominant outing in Fort Myers at the Underclass Worlds to end his 2024 campaign and it culminates in a jump of over 270 spots to end the year. The tall/lean 6-foot-3, 170-pound right-hander worked in the upper-80s for 3+ innings, punching out seven and allowing only one hit. It’s a quality three pitch mix with a blend of present arm speed and projection. He checks a lot of boxes as a young right-hander and makes a huge jump after the fall.


RJ Shields, OF/RHP, Venice Senior HS (FL)

Shields was one of the big standouts from the HS All-State Showcase to end his 2024 campaign. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound outfielder/right-handed pitcher showed low effort impact in the left-handed swing with good bat speed and strength. He has big arm strength from the outfield, throwing 98 mph, and worked comfortably in the mid-80s on the mound. There’s all types of tools here and he jumps over 200 spots to #223 in the class.


John Reyna, 3B, Weslaco HS (TX)

Reyna, a primary third baseman, showed pretty big arm talent on the mound at the Underclass Worlds in Fort Myers. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound two-way player ran the fastball up to 90 mph with a three-pitch mix. The arm talent is still relatively raw but there’s noticeable athleticism and arm speed here that’s easy to bet on in the future. He makes a big jump in the rankings and will be a name to know in the class for years to come.

Kaden Wasniewski, 3B/RHP, McHenry-West Campus (IL)

Wasniewski offers an intriguing two-way skill set with a toolshed of attributes that has continued to make steady gains across the board. He was outstanding at Sophomore National, where he ran a 6.63 sixty, showed arm strength across the diamond and potential at the plate. The biggest intrigue lies due to an uptick in his fastball, as it has now crept into the low-90s with explosive life. Couple that with feel for spin and the ability to turn over a changeup, you can surely see why he has risen to #17 in the Class of 2027.

Luke Armijo, LHP, La Mirada (CA)

The durable left-hander has made steady gains on his fastball over the last calendar year, topping out at 92 mph at this October’s WWBA World Championships. He was outstanding in his three-inning performance there, as he punched out five and surrendered just one hit. He did not allow a walk, which is a testament to his progress command wise. He pairs it with a two-plane breaking ball that generates whiffs both in the zone and when deployed as a wave pitch.

Grant Westphal, OF, Blue Valley (KS)

Westphal has immense upside within his 6-foot-2, 190-pound frame and has made steady strength gains that have enhanced his offensive skill set as he can really impact the baseball now from the left-side. Couple that with stellar defense in centerfield with the speed to go get it from gap-to-gap and you can see why he rises to #46 in the Class of 2027 Rankings.


Deuce Jenkins, OF, Jackson Academy (MS)

Jenkins has a proven track record of hitting but the power has started to really show up in-game, as the left-handed hitting 1B/OF hit .478 across his ’24 campaign with thirteen of his hits going for extra-bases. He has a propensity to be on the barrel frequently, his athleticism plays up and he is an able defender. The overall hit/power combination is rather vast and certainly a reason as to why he has ascended the rankings. 


Logan Bristol, RHP, North Broward Prep (FL)

The 6-foot-3, 195-pound right-hander was nearly unhittable at Sophomore Worlds, where he tossed a complete game one-hitter and punched out eleven. The uptick in his fastball has certainly allowed for him to garner more whiffs, as it now reaches the low-90s. A two-plane curveball and replicated changeup completes his mix, which allows for him to disrupt timing off the now explosive fastball. The near limitless projection coupled with pitchability and results are why the Florida native has risen over 200 spots in the Class of 2027 Rankings. 


Cason Borchardt OF/1B, Horace (ND)
Previous Rank: 328 | Current Rank: 99

Borchadt exudes projection, as the left-handed hitting OF/1B showed extremely well at the Minnesota Indoor Showcase and then was outstanding at the Midwest Elite championships. He hit .714 during the event with half of his hits going for extra bases. Ultimately, he received an invitation to the Sophomore National Showcase and showed off the aforementioned immense projection. He culminated his ’24 circuit by again showing plenty to dream on at the Kernels Foundation Championship. He has an advanced feel for the barrel, makes good swing decisions and uses the entire field extremely well. 


Trip Ostergard, MIF, James Island Charter (SC)

Ostergard performed in nearly every event across the ’24 circuit, hitting .431 and amassing fifty hits with twelve going for extra bases. He walked more than he struck out, while showcasing an innate feel for the barrel. He is a slick fielding middle-infielder with offensive prowess that will only continue to expand his tools as he physically matures. 


Oliver Van Tiem, RHP/IF, Orange (NC)
Previous Rank: 500 | Current Rank: 174

Van Tiem is an enticing two-way talent that has continuously made strides on both sides of the baseball. He is now into the upper-80s with his fastball, showcasing good carry through zone with the heater and feel for two secondary offerings. The strides on the mound have been notable to go along with his offensive prowess. The vast upside on the mound coupled with existing tools leave you with plenty to dream on, while distinguishing the need for a boost in the rankings.


Chris Grasso, CIF, St. joseph’s Prep (PA)
Previous Rank: 500 | Current Rank: 208

Grasso is another two-way talent that has continued to progress on both sides of the ball, while performing in 2024. His fastball is into the upper-80s now with life through the zone and the ability to miss bats. At the plate, the physical right-handed hitting 3B really impacts the baseball with authority and will only continue to expand his overall hit/power combo. Look for Grasso to keep rising, as he already has climbed to 208 in the Class of 2027.
 

Malcolm Blaqman, MIF Home School (MD)
Previous Rank: 345 | Current Rank: 188

Blaqman is a twitchy middle-infielder with huge physical upside and real feel for the barrel. He continuously performed across 2024, hitting .462 on the year with nearly double the number of walks to strikeouts. He has the propensity to be on the barrel often and the impact potential will continue to rise just like his ascent up the rankings with added strength.


Hunter West, RHP, Episcopal Academy (PA)
Previous Rank: 461 | Current Rank: 227

West offers an immense upside on the mound, as the young right-hander continues to physically mature. He has now made steady velocity gains into the upper-80s from a tough lower slot and possesses outlier traits on his fastball. The slider has frisbee like action and he has introduced a heavy faded changeup to complete his arsenal. Furthering developing his command and trusting his stuff should allow for him to continue rising, as more velocity should be coming soon.
