Frame/Setup

It’s hard to find a more impressive physical athlete in the prep class than Jenkins. He’s every bit of his listed 6-foot-3, 215-pound frame with well defined physicality. He's broad shouldered with lean mass to both halves, but moves for his size as well. It’s a pro type frame already. That size translates to the plate with an athletic setup in the box with a wider base and upright stance and slight hand load and barrel tilt at the top of his load along with a short trigger stride into contact. There is a slight segmentation into his entry, but the physical tools help take over from there with huge right-handed bat speed and some of the better raw impact testing at the plate on the PG summer circuit. The rotational force and acceleration really stands out in every facet. His back hip clears and creates serious torque. It’s an explosive swing that stays inside and produces easy carry and backspin to deep parts of the yard. When on time, he gets the barrel out front in space with ease.

Tools

The physical tools Jenkins’ possess across the board makes him an intriguing prospect follow this upcoming spring. It begins with his right-handed power, as he continuously hits balls hard to all fields with several triple-digit exit velocities, including a 104 mph barrel this summer on the PG circuit. The power plays to all parts and to the deepest areas of center field. Immense strength and the jump at impact are some of the best you can find in the prep class, on top of being a well above-average athlete and up the middle defender. Jenkins is a good athlete who is quick and nimble out of the crouch from a slight side saddle start and an easy getup into his transfer. He ran a 6.54 sixty at National and that foot speed plays well down the line as well with a plus arm behind the dish. He’s a physical athlete who offers some defensive versatility at the next level, as he could fit an infield or even corner outfield spot at the next level. The power and arm project as plus with simply loud strength and bat speed.

“The Buzz”

After an eye opening showing over the entire circuit in 2024, Jenkins has established himself as a strong MLB Draft follow this upcoming spring. He sent a ball over the batter’s eye in center field during WWBA Worlds in Jupiter, and that high end strength helped him throughout the summer. He hit to the tune of .400 and .424 during the PG Ohio Valley Invitational and World Series with three homers. That case he made only helped his cause during the National Showcase, where he was an immediate standout and named a 2024 Perfect Game All-American. Jenkins’ 2024 PG year was capped with a bevy of loud contact and it could very well help catapult him up boards if he performs this spring.

Summation

It’s hard to argue against the physical tools and athletic ability that Jenkins has across the board. His strength and bat speed produces serious in-game power that can fit in the middle of an order if it all comes together. The athlete he is, at the size he is, cannot be understated either along with the power at the plate and skills behind it. Continuing to improve his receiving and polish of the hit tool, aswell improved swing decisions can do wonders for his stock in 2025. If he moves off catcher the arm and mover can fit several spots around the diamond. Jenkins is a tool shed who can make plenty of noise in front of important eyes this spring.
