17u Tourney All-American Team

There’s a lot of talent throughout this 2026 class, filled with the big-name stars, to talent that spreads across the nation. It’s been a lot of fun seeing these prospects grow and develop over the years, from the days of watching some of these guys at the 13/14u days at events on the circuit, to now where they are all graduating seniors in 2026. There’s been new faces who have popped along the way over the years, even in 2026, where some players who were relatively undiscovered, have come out and made a name for themselves with a statement performance. Between the familiar and the new, there’s a lot of names on this list that are going to be quite regularly talked about on the circuit, and for good reason.

Whether it’s PG All-Americans or not, there’s a lot of names with superstar potential at the next level. We’ve got 14 PG All-Americans on the offensive side for the First-Team group, with players like Collin Bland who’s always liable for a big-time swing to leave the yard or AJ Curry who has some of best clutch-hitting traits in the class. To middle-infielders like Grady Emerson and Jacob Lombard who are poised to be Top 5 picks in the draft next summer, with Emerson in the conversation to go 1:1 in the eyes of some. These First-Teamers run deep with performance, seeing a bunch of them who produced on the circuit at every stop of the way, getting it done. Guys like Trevor Condon and Coleman Borthwick who have shown up and shown out on the circuit time-and-time again. If the past is any indicator, expect these numbers to continue as all of these players take the step to their respective next levels.

It’s hard to overlook these names, especially Cole Prosek, who takes home Player of the Year honors, with a .598 AVG, 1.523 OPS, 6 bombs, and 13 XBHs altogether, with 31 runs driven in. This all comes while walking 16 times, with just 8 punchouts on the circuit. He was named to the All-Tournament Team 5 times in all 5 of his big events he played in this year and was a Top Prospect at the PG National Showcase. Prosek really shined this year, earning his PG All-American honors along the way. The Ole Miss commit was a constant hitter in the eyes of evaluators and he’s ranked 31st in the class, and is the number 3 overall player in Mississippi. He’s got the traits to only continue trending upward at the next level.

On the mound, it’s another star-studded group, with big names at the top like Logan Schmidt who takes home Pitcher of the Year honors. He’s a storied name on the circuit, being a 12u, 13u, 14u PG Select Festival alum, and a 2025 PG All-American after re-classing up from the 2027 Class. Schmidt posted a 0.00 ERA over 16.0 IP with a gaudy 0.88 WHIP. He held the opposition to a .214 average and issued just 3 free passes with 29 punchouts on the circuit. The LSU commit was flat-out dominant, with his 3 All-Tournament Team Selections and impressive stats to pair. With his impressive performance this season, Schmidt has shown that he’s going to continue to impress as he moves to the next level after 2026. Schmidt is 14th ranked player in the class and is 2nd overall in California amongst the 2026 class.

Besides Schmidt, there’s a litany of performers across the First-Team and Second-Team lists. There’s six PG All-Americans on the First-Team list with a ton of talent across the board. Guys like Joseph Contreras who wow’d  the scouts with his performances at East Cobb on the circuit this year or Pablo Figueroa who made a name for himself with a 0.00 ERA over 13.1 IP, allowing just 1 hit. There was some other guys who made a name for themselves on the circuit, like Tyson Grulkowski who pitches his way from and Indoor Showcase to PG National and found himself on the fall circuit making waves with some really good performances at the Heartland Champions Cup and WWBA Jupiter. These arms are all players who have the traits to keep making noise at the next level.

Looking at both hitters and pitchers, it is hard to argue with what RJ Cope did this year on both sides of the ball. The massively physical 6-foot-8 lefty got it done on the mound and at the plate. He’s been a big-time arm on the circuit for years and put together some loud performances along the way, including a great outing in Jupiter. He also was one of the top hitters in this year’s group, getting it done at the plate as well. The Vanderbilt commit hit .394 with a 1.184 OPS and slugged 12 homers, plating 62 RBI to his credit as well. He tallied 73 punchouts over 60.1 innings on the mound as well. Cope was named to 8 All-Tournament Teams as well in 2025.

All-in-all, it is not going to shock many that the 2026 class has been fun to watch with insane performances across the board. They have talent that is going to continue to shine for years to come, some of these names are players we will follow through the ranks of collegiate and professional baseball in years to come, and it all starts with some of these big-time performers listed below.

MLK East Scout Notes Recap

Perfect Game Staff

‘28 OF Jakob Groeschel (OH) continues to impress with the bat on the circuit, picked up 2 2Bs in the first game today. Really athletic, went 4.4 on turn; easy to dream on all the traits. #MLKEast @PG_OhioValley pic.twitter.com/wOIwnGKnkg — Perfect Game Florida (@Florida_PG) January 17, 2026 2028 OF Jakob Groeschel (Springfield, Ohio) broke out at this event last year hitting a casual .909, and although he didn’t turn in quite the same performance, he hit a strong .462 with 4 extra-base hits, 5 walks, 5 bags and only struck out once. He’s a pretty dynamic athlete who can do a lot of things well, but the bat is the calling card as he just lives on the barrel and has no problem handling all kinds of pitching. It’s a simple swing, but he’s got fast hands and he can really impact the ball without being overly physical yet.  2030 RHP Michael Vazquez...

Three hitters and three pitchers that really impressed or improved their stock at the Area Code Select at Dodger Stadium.  Gotta start with James Clark as he stole the show offensively, and right out of the gate, with a pull side home run as just the second hitter of the game.  Added a triple to the pull side again, again on the barrel.  Added a single up the middle.  Really showed exceptional feel for the barrel.  Flew out to center field on two occasions, both barreled up pretty well, with one getting lost in the sun.  I’m old and salty, so didn’t give him the double for the cycle, but he was the most impressive bat (easily) on the day.   One of the other position players that impressed, I’ve been somewhat critical of, have spoken with his travel coach a little bit about him behind the plate, but Vista Murrieta catcher Taytum...

Preseason HS Top 50

The start of another high school season is right around the corner in a handful of states and with that, as always, comes our Preseason High School Top-50. A whopping twenty states are represented in the initial Top-50, a number that is staggering when you look at the amount of depth some of these rosters have across the nation. Leading the group is St. John Bosco (CA), a team that brought home a CIF Southern D1 title in 2025 and bring back a strong group of seniors to look to repeat. Stoneman Douglas (FL) is a name most people should know by now in the high school ranks and comes in as our preseason #2 team, looking to win their sixth straight state championship in Florida. Orange Lutheran (CA) had a good case for preseason #1 but come it an No. 3, bringing a roster with seven seniors ranked inside the top-200 in the country to the table. Four other Florida schools are represented...
