High School Top 50: 30-21

High School Preview Index
Top 50 Breakdown: 50-41 | 40-31

30. Calallen (Corpus Christi, Tx.)
2025 Record:
35-2
Head Coach: Steve Chapman

Notable Prospect(s): OF Drayton Mitchell (Texas State), LHP Coll Carroll (Texas State), SS Drayson Gamez (Midland College), 3B Lucas Saenz, OF Jimmy Tipton

The 2025 season was one that saw the Wildcats win their fourth state championship under legendary Texas high school coach Steve Chapman. They were dominant from start to finish, ending the year with a 35-2 record and bring back most of their offensive production and the offense will be headlined by a pair of seniors who had great springs a year ago in Drayton Mitchell and Wyatt Duke. Mitchell was also one of the arms that they relied upon a year ago and dominated on the bump. Rounding out the rotation is another senior in Coll Carroll, a left-hander who’s been into the upper-80s in PG events. It’s a roster headlined by an excellent group of seniors that reached the mountain top in 2025. They’ll look to do so again in 2026 and make it back-to-back titles.

29. Delbarton (Morristown, N.J.)
2025 Record:
24-5
Head Coach: Bruce Shatel

Notable Prospect(s): SS Sal Garcia (Virginia), OF Matthew Tafuri (Army), LHP AJ Saccento (University of Delaware), 1B Lorenzo Maselli (Pennsylvania), RHP Alex Volpe, RHP Brady Smith, OF Finnian O’Loughlin (Alabama), RHP Steven Pannullo (Boston College), RHP Kyle McBride (Wake Forest), OF Curt Friedrich (Penn State), RHP Ted Masino (Maryland), RHP Parker Klug

Delbarton, one of the more storied programs in New Jersey, once again finds themselves firmly entrenched inside the top-50 to start 2026. They’re coming off a spring that saw them win 24 games and dominate League play while also bringing back one of the more talented rosters in the nation. Seniors Sal Garcia and Metthew Tafuri lead the senior group of offensive talent and bring back extensive experience. Lorenzo Maselli provides some thump in the lineup while they also have a loaded group of juniors, headlined by outfielder and top-10 player in the 2027 class in Finnian O’Loughlin. Curt Friedrich is another highly regarded outfielder in the 2027 class while Steven Panullo, Kyle McBride and Ted Masino give them a ridiculous trifecta of junior arms. There’s a good amount of buzz around the program as the season is right around the corner and they look to be the early favorites to bring home a state championship in 2026.

28. Catholic (Baton Rouge, La.)
2025 Record:
37-5
Head Coach: Brad Bass

Notable Prospect(s):
LHP Lucas Lawrence (Ole Miss), Mills Richardson (Southeastern Louisiana), OF Harrison Kidder, RHP Tanner Forbes, 3B Kooper Childs, OF Dekohta Jones (South Alabama), RHP Jason DeCuir (East Central CC), SS Myles Auxt, SS Lucas Borges, 3B Jack Stokes

Catholic is one of the more recognizable brands in the southeast and once again brings back an insanely talented roster that’ll look to make it three state titles in a row for the Louisiana powerhouse. There’s one thing that Catholic is known for and it’s having a list of arms that are just simply more dominant than anyone else and they have that yet again entering this spring. Leading the charge on the mound will be senior left-hander and Ole Miss commit Lucas Lawrence. Mills Richardson, another senior, who has been into the low-90s. They’ll have to replace some production from a year ago on the offensive side but things look good with junior outfielder Dekohta Jones and senior outfielder Harrison Kidder leading the way. Myles Auxt, a sophomore shortstop, will certainly challenge for some innings and shows extreme promise for this program. All in all, it’s another exciting spring in Baton Rouge and the Catholic programs looks to pick up right where they left off in 2026.

27. Atascocita (Humble, Tx.)
2025 Record:
33-12-2
Head Coach: Jeremy O’Neill

Notable Prospect(s): C John Dolan, OF Kaleb Thomas, LHP Ty Higginbotham, OF Christopher Toney, C Jaxon McKnight (Texas State), 2B Cole Edwards, SS Jackson Wooten (Kentucky), OF Jancarlos Ortiz, RHP Garet Hackenbruch, LHP Austin Greene

The 2025 season saw the Eagles reach heights that the program hasn’t seen before, making it to the state championship game. Although they eventually lost that game, this team brings back a large chunk of production from last year’s roster and will look to win their first state title in program history. They have a loaded group of senior position players in John Dolan, Kaleb Thomas, Christopher Toney, and Jaxon McKnight. Mix that in with junior middle infielder Jackson Wooten, a Kentucky commit, and it gives them one of the more potent and veteran lineups in the state. On the mound, they’ll be led by left-hander Ty Higginbotham who had a great spring a year ago and will look to back that up, along with junior right-hander Garet Hackenbruch. This is one of the top programs in Texas for a reason and they bring back a team with plenty of experience and talent in 2026.

26. Puyallup (Puyallup, Wash.)
2025 Record:
28-1
Head Coach: Sean Taunt

Notable Prospect(s): RHP Max Schweyen (Washington), OF Noah Benedict (New Mexico State), RHP Conner Roeschlein, SS Brayden Landry, C Keegan Soliza (Hawaii), C Madden Pike

The 2026 Puyallup team rattled off 28 wins in a row from start to finish of the season and headed into the state semifinals looking to make it 29 in a row. That didn’t happen, losing to Lake Washington in the state semifinal game, ending their hopes of a perfect 30-0 season. With the page turned to 2026, it’s another quality roster with top end talent in Puyallup. This program consistently produces dudes, and they have some headlining this roster as well with a trio of seniors in Max Schweyen, Noah Bendict, and Conner Roeschlein. Top-50 talent in the 2027 class in Brayden Landry headlines the junior group and rounding it out is catcher Keegan Soliza. Madden Pike brings back ridiculous talent as a sophomore and can fill multiple roles at the highest level this spring. With the bad taste in their mouth from a season ago, it’s shaping up to be a fun spring in Puyallup with a lot more winning in their future.

25. Aledo (Aledo, Tx.)
2025 Record:
31-8
Head Coach: Chad Berry

Notable Prospect(s): LHP Lucas Nawrocki (LSU), RHP Caleb Turner (Dallas Baptist), RHP Luke Sandefur (Abilene Christian), SS Will Cayce (Murray State), RHP Teryn Byrne, OF Brady Huffman (Texas A&M University-Texarkana), SS Dane Browne (Western Texas College), C Reid Huffman Texas A&M University-Texarkana), 2B Landon Barnes (Weatherford College), SS Wilson Sehnem, 3B Dylan Duran (San Jacinto CC), OF Luke Gladchuk (Texas)

The 2025 rendition of the Aledo Bearcats saw them win their second state championship in program history. They come into 2026 with those same expectations and if you look at this roster, from top to bottom it’s loaded and there’s a reason why they’re ranked inside the top-25 in the country. The roster is led by a pair of arms in LSU commit Lucas Nawrocki and DBU commit Caleb Turner. Having these two gives them one of the best one-two punches in the country and a pair of arms that can both run it into the mid-90s. They also bring back senior Luke Sandefur, another arm that’s been up to 90 mph. The roster is loaded with offensive talent in the senior class, and it’s led by Will Cayce, a Murray State commit. Junior outfielder Luke Gladchuk is one of the more highly regarded players in the 2027 class in Texas and will certainly have his fingerprint on this offense as well. They enter the 2026 season with plenty of buzz around the program as they look to make it back-to-back in 5A.

24. Barbe (Lake Charles, La.)
2025 Record:
35-7
Head Coach: Glenn Cecchini

Notable Prospect(s): OF John David Alexander (Texas A&M), RHP Myles Ledoux (Louisiana-Lafayette), 3B Haden Heath, OF Jordin Griffin (LSU), LHP Lawton Littleton (LSU), C Cullen Weller (Tulane), 3B Zaylon Johnson, LHP Talon Sweat

Barbe has long been one of the top teams in the entire nation, boasting one of the more impressive resumes in high school baseball. They’re no stranger to preseason buzz and there’s plenty around the program with the talent that they return. Texas A&M commit John David Alexander and LSU commit Jordin Griffin will be the pulse of this offense along with senior Myles Ledoux has been a consistent performer on the circuit and brings back plenty of experience. Junior catcher Cullen Weller, a Tulane commit, gives them excellent ability behind the plate along with another quality bat in the heart of the order. Junior left-hander Lawton Littleton has been an intriguing name for us for quite some time and looks set to lead this rotation and is one of the top left-handers in the 2027 class for a good reason. It’s another year of high expectations around the building and they have their eyes set on another state title.

23. Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.)
2025 Record:
19-15
Head Coach: Richard Mercado

Notable Prospect(s): OF Ezekiel Lara (Georgia Tech), Kai Bratton (Tennessee), RHP Mason Mejias, OF Tristan Ramos (Long Beach State), RHP Aidan Harty, RHP Owen Shannon (Pittsburgh), RHP Jackson Campbell (Notre Dame), 3B Jack Reis, RHP Charlie Fuller (Oklahoma State), C Jaxon Olmstead (San Diego), C Austin Gerken (Washington), SS Brady Guth (Oklahoma State), RHP Jack Foster, OF Messiah White, RHP Charlie Martin, RHP Jackson Casey, RHP Christopher Park, SS Sebastian Navarro, 3B Anthony Sanchez

Mater Dei didn’t live up to their own expectations a year ago but they bring back a strong crop of senior talent with one of the better junior classes in Southern California. Leading the charge will be a talented group of senior arms, headlined by Tennessee commit Kai Bratton, Notre Dame commit Jackson Campbell, and Pittsburgh commit Owen Shannon. They round out the staff with a pair of juniors in Oklahoma State commit Charlie Fuller and Jack Foster, an uncommitted arm that’s been into the upper-80s. The talent doesn’t fall off there as on the offensive side they’ll be led by senior outfielder and Georgia Tech commit Ezekiel Lara. Fellow senior and Long Beach State commit Tristan Ramos gives them yet another talented outfielder and bat. You mix in the junior crop of Jaxon Olmstead, Austin Gerken, and Brady Guth and you have a deep and talented lineup. They’ll look to bounce back in a big way in 2026 and have a great chance to do just that with this amount of talent.

22. Kingwood (Kingwood, Tx.)
2025 Record:
39-4
Head Coach: Michael Oros

Notable Prospect(s): OF Graham Charboneau (Baylor), OF William Fiedler (Sam Houston State), RHP Ryder Renfro (Texas), SS Cody Sawyer, C Max Sherrill, LHP Caleb Pavel, OF David Young, OF Mason Bryant, RHP Ethan Page, 3B Maddox Bryant, LHP Brock Hill

Kingwood did something in 2025 that hadn’t been done in 20 years and that was bringing home a state title. They were ranked inside the top-5 to end the year after a dominant season in 2025 and look to repeat in 2026. They bring back five starters from last season’s team, led by senior outfielders Graham Charboneau and William Fiedler, both coming off dominant springs. Fiedler was dominant on the mound in last year’s campaign, and they also have junior right-hander Ryder Renfro, who’s one of the top arms in the entire 2027 class rounding out the staff. The depth of this team is one of the driving forces behind being ranked inside the top-25 to kick off the year. They have so much junior talent that will make an impact on this roster, blended with the pair of highly regarded seniors. They’ll look to rattle off another dominant spring in Kingwood this year and bring home their second straight state title.

21. Harvard-Westlake (Studio City, Calif.)
2025 Record:
19-10
Head Coach: Jared Halpert

Notable Prospect(s): SS James Tronstein (Vanderbilt), OF Ethan Price (Santa Clara), RHP Evan Alexander (Pennsylvania), C Michael Gonzalez (Johns Hopkins University), RHP Jake Chung (Brown), OF Ira Rootman (Texas), RHP James Venick (Southern Cal), 1B Jake Kim (UCLA), C Drew Rico, C Nate Blum (Cal Poly), RHP Justin Kirchner (Yale), OF Asher Bunnin, 3B Louis Lappe, C Mateo Mier, 1B Nathan Englander

Yet another storied program that continues to churn out top end talent and finds themselves firmly entrenched inside the top-50 to kick off the 2026 season. This year has a chance to be another special one in Studio City as they bring back one of the top teams in Southern California. They have one of the top players in the nation leading the offense in Vanderbilt commit James Tronstein. Ethan Price is another senior name to know on the offensive side of things and then you get into a loaded junior class led by Texas commit Ira Rootman and UCLA commit Jake Kim. On the mound they’ll be led by senior right-hander and Pennsylvania commit Evan Alexander and junior right-hander and Southern Cal commit James Venick. This is one of the more noticeable brands in the high school baseball space that continuously churns out impactful players at the next level and 2026 looks no different as they return a talented roster with their eyes set on a dominant campaign.

Tyler Russo
Article Image
The start of another high school season is right around the corner in a handful of states and with that, as always, comes our Preseason High School Top-50. A whopping twenty states are represented in the initial Top-50, a number that is staggering when you look at the amount of depth some of these rosters have across the nation. Leading the group is St. John Bosco (CA), a team that brought home a CIF Southern D1 title in 2025 and bring back a strong group of seniors to look to repeat. Stoneman Douglas (FL) is a name most people should know by now in the high school ranks and comes in as our preseason #2 team, looking to win their sixth straight state championship in Florida. Orange Lutheran (CA) had a good case for preseason #1 but come it an No. 3, bringing a roster with seven seniors ranked inside the top-200 in the country to the table. Four other Florida schools are represented...
