Bowman has one of the loosest, most projectable arms we’ve seen in the Class of 2004. Everything about him is loose, in fact. He has long, floppy arms and especially loose wrists. At 6-3, 175, he has tons of room to add strength while hopefully maintaining the same type of flexability. The fact that Bowman is a pretty good athlete, both playing first base and swinging the bat, adds to his overall projection. Bowman’s present stuff was solid and steadily got better while he was on the mound in Lincoln. He started out throwing 84-85 mph from a very good downward plane but was consistently hitting 87 after he got comfortable. Bowman’s delivery is smooth and easy and he’ll need to do very little tinkering on his delivery mechanics in the future. His curveball was in the 74-76 mph range and mostly showed a shorter, slider type of break, but every once in a while Bowman would get over one and snap off a bigger, deeper curveball type of break. Even this early in the summer it’s not too early to predict that Bowman will be one of the most projectable pitchers in his Class and a good bet to really jump up before next spring. Someone to watch very closely, he could easily become a high draft pick by next June. 6'3/175, he projects out of sight.
