Alfred Rodriguez is a 2008 MIF with a 6'0'', 165 lb. frame from Oak Hill, VA who attends Oakton HS. He has a slender, low waisted athletic frame and fair present strength. He is a very polished defensive middle infielder with very fluid, easy actions in all regards. Rodriguez played mostly second base in Cincinnati and looked very good and very natural at that position and played with a quiet efficiency. He has the arm strength and actions to play shortstop at the same level though and we're sure that the college coaches are looking at him at that position, too. Offensively, Rodriguez is a front foot hitter who commits early to pitches to compensate for his lack of present strength and sprays line drives around the field. He has good bat control and some hand quickness to the ball and works this approach with confidence. He doesn't project much power but should hit for a high average and knows what he's doing at the plate. Rodriguez is a very good student.
