Jake Newman is a 2026 C with a 6-0 175 lb. frame from Frankfort, IL who attends Lincolnway East. Works from a medium athletic frame with some physical upside. Primary catcher, starts in a squared stance and gets out of the set fairly quickly. Displayed a shorter takeaway prior to an over-the-top release. Showed some quickness in the hands and feet. Delivered accurate throws, recorded arm strength up to 71 mph with a pop time of 2.03. Right-handed hitter, starts in a bent-knee stance with a slightly open base and low hand set-up. Collapses the lower-half a bit. Produced consistent contact to the middle of the field, recorded an exit velocity of 81 mph. Ran a 7.63 sixty-yard dash. Excellent student.
