2007 South Top Prospect Showcase
Riley Hornback is a 2008 SS/OF with a 6'0'', 160 lb. frame from Sweeny, TX who attends Sweeny. Riley is a lean athlete with some present strength. In the outfield, he has a great approach, and plus mechanics. He gets to the ball quickly and comes through on his throw. He makes a quick exchange, and has very good arm speed on his release. His top throw from the outfield was 89 mph. He is a strong infielder as well, with plus footwork, good range, and soft hands. He gets to balls in the hole and up the middle with relative ease. At the plate he really got on a roll. He hit the ball well in the batting practice session and it carried over into his games. He hits from a slightly open stance, and has a line drive swing plane. He has pop, and he drives through the ball. His hands are very quick to the inside pitch, and he can drive it to left and left center field. He is a very projectable player, and a kid who has a lot of enthusiasm for the game. He was named a top prospect for the showcase.
