Jadd Schmeltzer is a 2007 right handed pitcher/first baseman from Tappan, New York, with a big and strong 6'5"/240 pound frame. Jadd pitches from a 3/4 arm slot with clean and easy arm action. He has very good arm speed and a balanced delivery with leverage. Schmeltzer gets a downward plane to the plate, keeping his fastball down in the zone. He pitches off his fastball, moving it in and out well with tail and diving action. He also throws an 11-5 breaking curveball at 68 mph. Jadd moves well around the first base bag with a good glove and good hands. As a right handed hitter, he hits from a slightly open stance and is a patient hitter. Schmeltzer has a good approach at the plate with leverage in his swing and quick hands. He is a potential two-way prospect and a must follow.
