Colten Stechnij is a 2028 LHP/1B/OF with a 6-3 165 lb. frame from Queen Creek, AZ who attends Benjamin Franklin. Features a taller lean build that projects. Ran a 7.17 60-yd dash. In the OF, showed fundamental actions. Some choppiness to the feet but moves through it alright where he shows the glove early and fields it clean. Slower gather but got off uphill accurate throws with decent carry. At the plate, operates from a wider open stance with lower set hands. Shorter stride into launch. Flashes of some decent bat/hand speed but with limited feel for the barrel. More of a pull side approach during his round. On the mound, worked exclusively from the stretch and used a belt high lift. Gets down the mound with good length and pace. More quad-dominant push off the rubber. Rotates fast and lands on-line. Used a shorter AA out the back that hides a bit and gets to a normal 3/4 slot. Heater worked up to 83 where it produced a ton of in-zone whiff. Mixed in a low 70s slider that had shorter shape and flashed some slurviness at times. Also flashed a low 70s changeup that he killed spin on which created some depth with minimal fade to the offering. Named to Top Prospects List.
