LATEST PG SHOWCASE REPORT
2005 Pre Draft Showcase
RHP Jeremy Hellickson (Des Moines, IA): Hellickson built on his strong performance at the PG Spring Top Prospect Showcase, throwing three strong innings at the Pre-Draft. The 6-0 right hander’s fastball was steadily 91-94 mph and, as he usually does, he pitched to locations effectively. After an inning to find his release point, Hellickson’s curveball was a power pitch at 75-77 mph. He still shows some hesitance to use his 78-80 mph change up, but that pitch is there when pro hitters need to see it. Hellickson couldn’t be in a better situation for the draft as he has signed with LSU.
UPDATE: Hellickson pitched a high school game May 24th. He faced the minimum and only lost a perfect game when strike 3 hit the catchers mask allowing the hitter to reach base. Hellickson then got the next hitter to roll one back to the mound and turned a double play. He was consistently 92-94 with some reported at 95-96. He was still throwing 92-94 in the 7th inning. Stock went up! Only 6-0 but maybe the best pitcher in high school baseball. In fact, we think he is.
