2025 PG National Underclass Showcase-Main Event Presented by GEICO
Danny Morgan is a 2027 C/RHP/SS with a 5-10 175 lb. frame from Shoreline, WA who attends Shorewood. Stocky and strong athletic build. Primary catcher on defense who runs very well for his position, 6.60 in the sixty. Sets up right knee down behind the plate, gains ground into his throws, short and quick arm action with good carry on his throws, fluid overall actions in his process, made accurate throws. Undoubtedly athletic enough to play all over the field defensively. Produced throws at 79 mph from the crouch, with a 1.97 pop time. Took BP as a right-handed hitter, with an even base, high back elbow, and high hands. He had a relaxed hand setup with a longer stride into contact, showing feel to impact with strength. He was athletic in the box, with some feel to impact, playing to left-center with hard contact during his round of BP swings. He hit well in-game as well. Produced an 89 mph exit velocity during PG DK testing. Took to the mound as a right-handed pitcher, working with an abbreviated wind-up from the first-base side. He had a sidestep into a belt-high leg lift, with a direct move working down the slope. He had a medium arm action with a three-quarters arm slot. He had a leg-swing finish, with a backside release. He worked 84-91 mph with the fastball, showing some 2-seam action and a feel for adding/subtracting with it. He showed a curveball in the mid-70s with consistent shape and break to it. Also turned over a couple of changeups, with a mostly fastball/curveball option. He had a consistency to his delivery, repeating it well throughout his outing. Induced swing and miss, and was able to put together a great outing on the mound. Good student. Named to the PG National Underclass Showcase-Main Event Presented by GEICO Top Prospect List.
