McClure is an extra tall "junior" 6-8, 200 right hander who is just starting to grow into his body. Right now, McClure showed us a fastball that was pretty consistently at 84-85 mph with some life for 2 innings and he did a good job of throwing strikes with it, especially as he got more comfortable. McClure has a simple delivery with a tight, clean arm action that could use better extension out front. He tends to drift towards the plate with that extra long body, which costs him both mph’s and spin on his curveball. Like many tall pitchers, McClure is still working on getting comfortable with his breaking ball, which varies between 67 and 77 mph with loose spin. He also throws a 72 mph change up that shows some promise. When he starts getting stronger and further develops his pitching mechanics, he’s got a chance to be a first rate power pitcher. Keep a close eye on this junior.
