Jerry Chavarria is a 2012 C/3B with a 5-10 180 lb. frame from Washington, DC who attends St. John's HS. Chavarria has a durable, strong build with a broad chest and shoulders and good present upper body strength. Sets up well behind the plate and is a good target, good catch and throw skills give him a quick transfer and release and he makes accurate throws down to second base. Stands out at the plate with his quick hands and line drive swing plane. He is balanced throughout and gets his lower half into his swing, power projects, but at present he keeps things simple and makes line drive contact to all fields. Good student. Named to Top Prospect Team.
