Ruben Garcia is a 2014 SS/RHP with a 6-4, 200 lb. frame from Port St. Lucie, FL who attends St. Lucie West Centennial HS. Tall athletic build, some present strength, young look, very projectable physically. Right handed hitter, open stance and tends to stay open, low hand start gets out to his front side early, long aggressive swing, some bat speed and pull side power potential, will have to make adjustments to timing and stay back and directional better. 7.35 runner, prototypical third baseman's build, quick exchange and release, very good raw arm strength, will have to work hard on maintaining lateral agility for third base. Graded out higher as a pitcher at this event. Compact arm action, tight 3/4's release slot, hides the ball well and stays tall and downhill in delivery, good extension out front. Upper 80's fastball, topped out at 89 mph, more velocity in there, good fastball life with lots of running action. Change up best off-speed, gets sink with proper arm speed. Flashes good spin on sweeping curveball, good feel for locating curveball. has a bright future on the mound. Good student, signed with Florida International.
