2004 World Showcase
Miranda was the leading hitter at the WWBA World Championships in Jupiter and showed that that was no fluke, going 4-8 in game competition at the World Showcase and taking a very good batting practice. Miranda has a short, very quick stroke from both sides of the plate and does an excellent job of keeping his hands inside and putting the meat of the bat on the ball. If anything, he has a little more bat speed and sharpness to his swing right handed. Miranda won’t hit with much power right now but he’ll hit for a very high average and run the bases very aggressively. He’s a 6.72 runner who gets out of the batter’s box in a hurry and who’s always looking to move up one. Miranda has confident, quick actions in the field and is especially good at coming in on the ball. He profiles well as a second baseman in the future and we wouldn’t be surprised to hear some comparisons to another Puerto Rican, Jose Vidro. Miranda is the type of player who could easily not meet with the bottom side of a .300 batting average until well into his professional career. He's also a very good student, but he could create a lot of draft interest.
