2004 World Showcase
Chapman was at the top of his game at the World Showcase. He pounded 3 home runs in batting practice and didn’t let up in the games, showing excellent hand speed at the plate and continuing to drive the ball hard almost every at bat. Chapman might be the most well rounded hitter in the country with his power potential from the left side, his quick, high average stroke and what appears to be better than average patience and selectivity at the plate. In case we forget, Chapman also ran 6.65 and threw 87 mph from the outfield. We’d like to see him play more centerfield instead of the right field he usually plays in showcase/elite team events as he has the physical skills to play that position. He’s signed to go to Auburn but the pros may discourage him from fulfilling that commitment. Stephen is a good student and he's going to be scouted like crazy this spring. He's for real!
