Shane Hummel is a 2013 RHP/3B with a 6-1 184 lb. frame from Olathe, KS who attends Olathe Northwest HS. Square shouldered athletic build, good present strength. Simple side step delivery, keeps hands calm and still, compact arm action and over the top release point. Fastball to 84 mph, mostly straight with occasional small running action when down. Good curveball spin, flashes depth and sharpness especially at lower velocities, has a feel for developing change up. Shows less effort and better command of off speed stuff, mixes up his pitches well. Right handed hitter, line drive swing plane, confident aggressive approach, has some bat speed, smooth load, works through contact, some gap to gap power. Good student.
