Matt Jones is a 2012 RHP/1B with a 6-6 245 lb. frame from Omaha, NE who attends Gretna HS. Extra big and strong build, well proportioned athletic look. Calm delivery with high hands and late separation, fast arm that works well out front, high 3/4's slot, very downhill to the plate, tends to land on the outside of his foot creating balance issues. Steady upper 80's fastball, topped at 89 mph, mostly straight but thrown to spots with plus angle, will occasionally turn over 2 seamer to LHH'ers. Hard curveball spin with 11/5 depth and bite, nice pitch with more consistent release, rare change up. Two-way prospect, left handed hitter, very good bat speed, busy upper half load, keeps swing short and simple for size, ball jumps hard on contact, big sound, definite power potential. Good student.
