Cobb is a very athletic 6-1, 175 lb right handed pitching prospect who has prospect level skills as a third baseman. He has wiry strength with long arms and legs. Cobb has an easy, balanced delivery with a smooth, fluid arm action and very good extension out front. Cobb’s fastball was 85-88 mph and he had nice sinking life to his pitches. He threw a 73-76 mph curveball that was sharp and tight when it was down in the zone, although Cobb left it up a number of times. He also threw a 75-78 mph change up. The ball comes out of Cobb’s hand very easily and with his athleticism and looseness, he’s a good bet to add velocity as he gets stronger and maybe become a low 90’s guy. As a position player, Cobb has good balanced actions in the field, good first step quickness and a strong, accurate arm. He’s good at charging the ball and getting off a strong throw on the run. Cobb’s bat quickness is good and he has a pull type approach and quick hands to the ball. His pitching ability is his obvious ticket at the next level but he’s a good overall athlete and baseball player.
