Nick Laster is a 2016 OF/RHP/3B with a 5-10 175 lb. frame from Atlanta, GA who attends West Lake HS. Medium athletic build. 6.95 runner, very good arm strength in the infield and outfield, long loose arm action, can improve routes and quickness through the ball in the outfield, potential to play third base as well. Right handed hitter, lift and replace load from a wide base, short line drive swing with some hand quickness, works inside the ball, line drive contact to all fields. Has two-way potential on the mound. Low 3/4's arm slot, compact delivery with some spin off his front side at release, aggressive mound demeanor and attacks hitters aggressively. Mid-80's fastball, topped out at 86 mph, gets outstanding late sinking and running life at times, same sort of big life on his change up. Drops to lower slot for big breaking frisbee slider with tight spin and bite, will have to develop consistency with his release slots. Graded out higher on the mound this outing. Good student. Named to the Showcase All Prospect Team.
