Ryan Wyant is a 2016 RHP/IF with a 5-9 183 lb. frame from Marion, IA who attends Linn-Mar. Medium frame with present strength throughout. On the mound shows a loose arm action from a 3/4 slot and up temp delivery. Arm has some quickness with high energy effort. Creates downhill angle with fastball that has late arm side run ranging from 81-84 mph. Slider has 10/4 shape with good tilting action and some late bite, topped at 74 mph. Shows feel for the slider and goes to it often. Also flashed one curveball while pitching with 12/6 shape and good downward depth, topped at 67 mph. Shows a change up with a cross body release that produces some arm side run, topped at 74 mph. Shows a good knowledge of pitching while mixing and matching pitches well. Right handed hitter with a slightly open stance. Shows a pull side approach and swings hard with intent to drive the ball to the gap. Hands tend to drag occastionally when front side opens up early. Plus bat speed with a very aggresive mind set at the plate. Worked out defensively from the infield. Very clean actions on groundballs outfront and makes accurate throws with comfort, topped at 85 mph across. Tends to be long through transition to gear up for throw across infield. Shows some range to both sides. Good follow. Good student.
