Jose Almonte is a OF with a 6-3 200 lb. frame from the Dominican Republic. Very strong and athletic build, especially for a 16 year old. Classic right field defensive tools, exceptional arm strength, good sound footwork, on line accurate throws with carry, shows range and gets good jumps, plays much faster than his 60 time. Right handed hitter, present hitting mechanics and timing inconsistent but flashes big bat speed and power potential, looks to get his arms extended and drive the ball, tends to get weight out front early and lengthen swing, stands off the plate and looks to get extended. 16 years old and will be signable June 2, 2013. Arm action/strength would strongly translate to the mound based on this look. Plays the game with some flair and personality. Top level international prospect.
