Evan Marshall is a 2008 RHP/SS/1B with a 6'2'', 190 lb. frame from Sunnyvale CA, who attends Homestead HS. Selected as a Top Prospect at this event. He has a strong, thick build on a sturdy frame. He has good arm speed and some feel for the baseball. Marshall has a solid college-type repertoire. His fastball sits in the mid-80s and will occasionally flash at 87-88. He gets good run and occasional sink on the fastball. When he stays over the rubber he gets good down angle and life on it. Marshall's best pitch is his 79-81 mph slider, with the 69-73 mph curveball following close behind. He spins them well and gets late action, with good depth on both pitches. The slider has more down tilt than lateral action. Because he throws both consistently for strikes, hitters have to consistently offer at them, making his fastball that much more effective. He shows a developing change-up. Marshall competes on the mound and has some mound presence. The better his fastball command is and becomes, the more effective he will be at the D1 level. He is a good student too. Offensively he shows some pop and some bat speed.
