Jack Owen is a 2017 LHP/OF with a 6-2 170 lb. frame from Coto De Caza, CA who attends J Serra HS. Young and lean build, lots of room for additional strength. Very easy and well balanced delivery, ball comes out of his hand easily, lands closed and creates angle from a 3/4's extended release point, repeats his mechanics extremely well. Upper 80's fastball, velocity plays up with deception in ease of delivery, can spot his fastball anywhere he wants to and does. Change up is a very good pitch with fell and the same arm slot/arm action, will slow his body on change at times. Curveball for strikes, can shorten it up at times for more than a slider look with good tilt. Plus command pitcher with a great performance history, is not going to hurt himself. Very athletic, graded out extremely well in the outfield drills defensively. Left handed hitter with a simple and smooth swing and good hitting rhythm, could easy develop into a position prospect with addition strength to swing the bat. Good student, verbal commitment to Mississippi State.
