Connor McCaffery is a 2017 OF/1B with a 6-6 205 lb. frame from North Liberty, IA who attends Iowa City West. Large frame with long limbs and present strength. Frame projects to support additional strength. Ran a 6.73 sixty-yard dash. Primary outfielder with smooth, fundamental feet while closing to the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling the baseball and working through transition. Long arm circle at separation and primarily released from a compact three-quarters arm slot, will drop to low three-quarters at times topping at 86 miles per hour. Also worked out defensively at first base showing athletic actions while centering and moving through the baseball. Smooth paced exchange prior to releasing from the same three-quarters slot topping at 84 miles per hour. Left handed hitter with an upright, open stance and high back elbow set. Shifts into contact with linear lower half action. Level, line drive path and plane with every good extension out front. Present bat speed through the zone credit solid jump off the barrel with carry to the middle of the field. Showed very quick hands through the zone with the ability to turn on pitches located on the inner half of the plate. Tools will continue to develop with continued repetition. Excellent student.
