Willem Aldrich is a 2016 SS/RHP, C, OF, 3B with a 6-0 200 lb. frame from Duluth, MN who attends East. Large frame, good build with present strength throughout. At the plate shows a slightly open stance with a higher back elbow set. Creates coil with the lower half during load and launches to contact with rotational actions. Swings hard with a mid-field approach. Good barrel control and extension through the zone allowing to hit to all fields with some pop. Worked out from the infield with strong, loose overtop arm actions, topped at 83 mph across the infield. Tends to sit down and funnel deep at times. Surrounds the ball well and creates good direciton to target with accuracy on throws. Also worked for the outfield with a long, loose arm action that produces accurate throws, topped at 84 mph from the outfield. Deliberate footwork while attacking the baseball and tends to take an extra step while transitioning into throw. Also pitched showing simple mechanics and repeats well. Fastball has some downhill angle ranging from 80-81mph. Pounded the strike zone with the fastball and produced a quick, functional 6 pitch inning. Good follow. Good student as well.
