Jake Cowan is a 2007 RHP with a 6'2'', 165 lb. frame from Roswell GA, who attends Roswell HS. He has a tall, lanky body with long limbs and very good projectability. Cowan pitches from a high leg kick delivery with good ip and upper body rotation and good overall balance. He maintains good downhill angle to the plate from a 3/4's to high 3/4's release point. Cowan's arm works very smoothly. His best pitch is a very sharp and tight curveball at 73-75 mph. It has a big, deep bite and Cowan does a very good job of commanding the pitch despite its depth. Cowan's fastball sat at 88 mph and touched 90 mph a few times, with some running life. We didn't see a change up but he has shown one in the past. We've seen Cowan sharper at different times this summer and he's one of the better young RHP prospects in the 2007 class and has plenty of upside left to develop.
