Ben Norman is a 2016 OF/ with a 6-2 180 lb. frame from Des Moines, IA who attends Roosevelt. Large frame, athletic build with present strength. Projects for additional size with strength. Left handed hitter with a spread, slightly open stance and high back elbow set. Shows very good balanced throughout swing with rotational lower half actions to contact. Produces some shift at launch with a compact, line drive swing plane. Hands show good quickness to contact producing solid bat speed to both gaps. Has the ability to turn barrel to pitches inner half and drive baseballs throught the pull side gap. Mature, disciplined approach at the plate with projectable next level hit tools. Worked out defensively from the outfield showing smooth, athletic actions while closing on the baseball. Has exceptional range and speed, running a 6.49 sixty-yard dash. Clean arm action from a three-quarters arm slot that generates solid carry to the bag, topped at 85 mph. Polished glove actions throughout transition and exchange. Tools will continue to project with future physical maturity. Excellent student. Commited to University of Iowa. Named to the 2016 Pre-Draft Top Prospect List.
