Jalen Evans is a 2016 RHP/C, 3B with a 6-3 200 lb. frame from Warren, MI who attends Warren Mott. Athletic build with present strength. Right handed pitcher with a big step back to start delivery. High energy delivery with plus arm speed and quickness. Fastball shows some downhill angle with arm side run when located down in the zone ranging in the upper 80's to low 90's. Flashed a slider with sharp, late break and tilt at 76 mph. Also throws a curveball with 11/5 downer shape with softer spin. Mixed in a knuckleball that showed some float recording a strikeout. Aggresive in the zone with all pitches inducing swing and miss as well as soft contact. Right handed hitter with an upright, straight stance and leg lift trigger. Linear lower half mechanics with good shift into contact. Shows an extended swing plane with a line drive path. Occasionally produces some leverage through contact creating good backspin to the gaps. Showed consistent, hard contact to the middle of the field in batting practice. Also worked out defensively from behind the plate with a low set and good hip flexion. Compact arm cirlce with clean glove to hand exchanges. Shows a quick, compact arm action while gaining ground to second base with downhill angle, topped at 82 mph. Best pop time of 2.06. Very athletic tools and will continue to develop with additional maturity and strength. Committed to Alvin CC. Named to 2016 Pre-Draft Showcase Top Prospect List.
