Nick Wheeler is a 2017 3B/SS with a 5-10 175 lb. frame from Eagleville, PA who attends Methacton. Small frame with a compact, athletic build. Right handed hitter with a slightly open stance, high back elbow set and a high leg lift trigger. Short, compact path to the baseball with linear mechanics and solid fast twitch actions. Shows a line drive swing path with a mid-field approach that results in consistent contact to all fields. Shows a lot of movement prior to and throughout swing that tends to change timing sequences some. Hitting mechanics project well. Worked out defensively from the infield. Quality arm strength with a quick arm action. Shows good accuracy while set and on the move, topped at 80 mph across the infield. Produces most of the velocity from arm whip. Athletic actions around the baseball with ability to flip hips well. Funnels baseball well on ground balls out front with developing backhand glove actions. Tools should continue to develop with maturity. Good student as well.
