Jacob Cavaleri is a 2018 C/RHP with a 6-0 170 lb. frame from Phoenix, AZ who attends Desert Vista HS. Medium, athletic frame with a young, projectable build and room to fill, square shoulders with present strength to build. Ran a 7.56 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, shows nice actions behind the plate that project well, low set with flexibility, upper body release and will continue to lower pop time with incorporation of lower half, lower arm slot at release but shows strength and accuracy to the bag. Also pitched, full arm circle through the back side, leg lift equal to belt with a short stride down the mound. Quick arm and works to a three-quarters slot, fastball topped out at 79 mph and showed some heavy life to bottom of the zone, holds velocity out of stretch. Occasionally opens front side early, changeup shows nice diving life from same arm slot, pitches to contact and throws with low effort. Righthanded hitter, athletic stance in the box with some moving parts to mechanics. Incorporates strength into swing well, aggressive swing and generates bat speed, occasionally gets to front side early, best contact comes to pull side with strength off the barrel when squared. Very good student.
