Ryan Callahan is a 2018 3B/ with a 5-9 175 lb. frame from Newton, NJ who attends Pope John XXIII. Medium, strongly-built frame with solid projection remaining as well. Ran 60 yard dash in 8.19 seconds. Switch hitter, hits from left side with open stance, short to the ball, big leg lift trigger, inside-out swing path with intent to drive the ball the opposite way. Sets up right-handed a bit more even to the plate, big leg lift again, line drive swing plane with good bat speed, wants to drive the baseball deep into the air. Has good hand speed and feel to hit from both sides. Worked out defensively in the infield, has smooth actions with some range to both sides, soft hands, fields out front, quick release across, arm strength clocked up to 87 MPH. Took infield right-handed, pitched left-handed. Shorter arm action on the mound, throws from over-the-top arm slot, fastball worked 73-78 MPH with some downhill plane, did a good job throwing strikes with FB. Mixed in a CB with 1/7 shape and quality depth. Good student.
