Sam Olson is a 2017 SS/2B with a 6-1 165 lb. frame from West Des Moines, IA who attends Dowling Catholic HS. Tall and rangy middle infielders build, plenty of room to get stronger. 7.41 runner, has smooth and athletic actions in the middle infield, feet work well with good balance which leads to accurate throws, good at charging the ball and getting off the quick throw, arm might be best suited for second base in the future. Right handed hitter, straight stance with an early stride into contact and a short and direct swing, stays quiet and balanced, high contact swing with good execution, mid field line drive contact. Very sound fundamental player in all regards who can play the game, all a matter of getting stronger and faster to take the next step. Outstanding student.
