Tyler Bastunas is a 2019 MIF/RHP with a 5-9 150 lb. frame from Lake Saint Louis, MO who attends Timberland HS. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build. Projects for additional size with strength. Ran a 7.40 sixty-yard dash. Primary middle infielder with good range while moving to the baseball and surrounding. Clean glove actions with smooth funneling actions out front. Works through exchange with smooth, fundamental actions prior to released from a three-quarters arm slot. Throws generated stiff on line carry across the infield with developing accuracy, topped at 87 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an upright, slightly open stance and large leg lift trigger. Good shift into contact with linear lower half actions. Stays behind contact well on a loose, naturally lifted plane through extension. Primarily utilized a line drive approach to the middle of the field but flashed the hand speed to turn barrel and work to pull side as well. Also pitched, bounces on back leg at gather and works to the plate with drop and drive lower half actions. Showed a high energy, high three-quarters arm slot with a fastball offering that had solid riding life topping at 84 miles per hour. Slider has good spin with late bite and tilt. Maintained arm speed with a changeup offering that flashed good fade. Struggles to repeat arm action at times, fills the zone when staying balanced and under control to the plate. Tools will continue to develop with physical maturity and repetition. Good student as well.
