2016 South Top Prospect Showcase
Isaac Segura is a 2017 3B/RHP with a 5-11 180 lb. frame from Austin, TX who attends St Andrews Episcopal High School. Medium, athletic frame with broad shoulders and present strength proportioned throughout build. Ran a 7.54 60-yard dash. Primary third baseman, fields the ball out front with soft hands that play at the ball, moves well to backhand, takes an extra step at release, balanced when ranging, full arm action through the back, ball comes out clean and shows both strength and carry for the left side. Also pitched, quick inning on mound but shows potential. Similar full arm action in the back, works to an over the top slot and does a nice job of getting on top to generate extension and downhill plane. Topped out at 85 mph, showed subtle life and pounded the strike zone. Nice depth to 12-6 curveball at 70 mph, flashed a changeup at 70 mph as well. Righthanded hitter, begins with a wide and slightly open stance with a medium hand set. Full swing path coming through the zone with easy bat speed, gets the barrel through nicely and incorporates physical strength well to create carry off the barrel. Looks to lift, simple load through lower half with quick hips, line drive swing plane with a good path to the ball. Very good student. Named to South Top-Top Prospect List.
