Sam Polk is a 2018 2B/SS with a 5-10 160 lb. frame from Magnolia, TX who attends IMG Academy. Polk has a medium sized frame with a lean build. He takes longer strides to the baseball with some smoothness to the baseball. He has nice hands and plays through the baseball well. Polk has clean transfers and developing arm strength. He showed solid defensive tools that project at 2B. Polk is a switch hitter who is currently better from the left side. From the left side he starts with slightly open stance with a high back elbow. He has a short swing path to the baseball and he showed good barrel contact. Polk has a loose swing and the ball jumps some from the left side. From the right side he has a similar approach but isn't quite as smooth or polished as the left side. Polk made hard consistent contact in the game and made good contact to the pull side. Excellent student.
