Riley Weatherwax is a 2024 3B/RHP with a 6-1 162 lb. frame from Poughkeepsie, NY who attends Roy C Ketcham. Long, lean frame with a high waist, square shoulders and plenty of physical projection remaining. Primary third baseman with smooth, controlled actions throughout the fielding process and plenty of athleticism. Fields cleanly out in front, works downhill through the baseball and exhibits the ability to change arm angles when necessary. Recorded online, accurate throws up to 84 mph across the diamond during drills. Secondary right-handed pitcher that worked from an abbreviated windup with a belt high leg lift and good lower half movements down the slope. Strike thrower with ability to command all four quadrants of the strike zone effectively. Fastball worked in the low-to-mid 80s with life and carry through the hitting zone and topped out at 85 mph in this look from a higher three-quarters arm slot. Mixed in 11-5 shaped curveball that has all the makings of a true swing-and-miss offering, as it has two-plane break and some abruptness to its downward tilt. Simple, repeatable delivery with velocity upside and plenty of things to dream on projection wise. Right-handed hitter that hits from even, balanced stance with a high hand set, high back elbow and slight hanging leg lift for timing. Compact, line drive swing with plenty of present bat speed, looseness to his hands and the ability to impact the baseball when on-time. Displayed consistent bat-to-ball skills and feel for the barrel, whole field approach with best impact through the middle-of-the field and legitimate long-term power projection. Young, projectable prospect with legitimate two-way abilities and plenty of upside remaining on both sides of the ball, will continue to expand upon his tools with additional strength and maturity. Good Student. Named to the 2022 New York Indoor Showcase Top Prospect List.
