Andy Valdes is a 2019 C/3B with a 6-2 165 lb. frame from Miami, FL who attends Somerset Academy Charter School. Recorded a 7.65 second 60-yard dash time. Good present size and frame with broad shoulders and room to add strength. Primary catcher with a wide base to start. Clean transfers and releases with accurate throws down. Deliberate actions and gets the ball out quickly for a best pop time of 2.03 seconds. Secondary third baseman with a three-quarter arm slot. Gets on top of the ball well and showed the ability to throw from all angles. Ball comes out of the hand cleanly with deliberate actions. Switch hitter who graded out best from the left side. High hand set with a high back elbow and a quiet load. Can create topspin on the ball and swings with intent. More natural leverage and power from the left side. Gets some rear side drive through the ball and more fluidity to the path. More power will come as he continues to add strength. Great student.
