Jack (John) McRae is a 2019 OF/RHP with a 6-2 168 lb. frame from Maitland, FL who attends Bishop Moore. Large frame with long limbs and a lean build. Wiry strength throughout and projects for more with continued maturity. Ran a 7.01 sixty-yard dash. Primary outfielder with smooth, clean footwork while closing to and moving through the baseball. Fluid glove actions while funnels and works through exchange. Full arm action at released generating carry to the bag, topped at 86 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an upright, even stance and simple leg lift trigger. Created some shift into contact with rotational lower half actions. Deep hand load and works to baseball on a loose, extended path. Flashed good fluidity through extension on an uphill plane. Extends through the baseball well when working to the middle of the field showing present bat speed with strength. Stayed balanced throughout and aggressively turned the barrel when working to pull side producing hard, loud contact to the gap. Also pitched using a simple side step to leg lift delivery. Stays balanced on back side at gather with slight coil over back leg. Drop and drive lower half actions and worked over front side well to finish. Loose, deep arm circle at separation and released from a three-quarters arm slot. Showed solid arm whip with a fastball offering that had good downhill angle with run in the low 80's, topped at 83 miles per hour. Curveball had 11/5 shape with solid spin and good depth when staying on top of offering. Looked to fill the zone with both pitches and aggressively attack hitters early in count. Named to the 2017 National Academic Showcase Top Prospect List. Excellent student as well.
