Avery Elkins is a 2017 SS/RHP with a 6-0 140 lb. frame from Thornton, CO who attends Frederick HS. Medium, athletic frame with slender present build; very projectable body overall. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.81 seconds. Sets up to hit with high back elbow and high hands set, gets on line drive plane after large leg kick, shows clean hands through swing to the ball. Does a good job making consistent contact on balls all over the zone with god feel for the barrel; will drive the ball more with added strength. Shows good balance and footwork defensively, fields cleanly out front and does a good job of moving through the ball, is able to throw from multiple arm slots with accuracy, clocked up to 72 MPH. Pitched as well, rigid arm stroke through the back, throws from three quarters arm slot with good command of fastball that worked 68-72 MPH and touched 73 MPH. Generated some sink on fastball, also showed slider with beginnings of sharp tilt.
