Thomas Otto is a 2020 C/1B, 3B with a 6-1 205 lb. frame from Neenah, WI who attends Appleton North. Large, athletic frame with broad shoulders and present strength proportioned well throughout frame. Primary catcher, compact set behind the plate and receives the ball out front, quick transfer into a longer and loose arm stroke, gains some ground with lower half moving into release, tighter release and gets on top of throws, does a nice job of repeating actions, arm strength will continue to develop. Righthanded hitter, begins with an open and spread stance with a high hand set and back elbow in the box; utilizes a leg lift trigger for timing at the plate. Balanced mechanics and stays inside the ball, can continue to generate extension out front at point of contact. Incorporates strength into swing and stays short while generating bat speed through the zone, can work to all fields. Excellent student.
