Brooks Gay is a 2022 RHP/1B with a 6-3 165 lb. frame from Abilene, TX who attends Wylie. Long and lean projectable pitchers build, lots of room to get stronger. Side step delivery with a high leg lift above the belt, lands slightly open out front with good hip rotation, long and loose arm action in back leading to an extended low 3/4's arm slot, has arm speed, works from the first base side of the rubber. Fastball topped out at 87 mph early, has good running and sinking life at times and good angle to the plate, more velocity in his arm as he gets stronger. Has bumped his fastball up 7 mph in the last year. Showed good spin and some downer break on his curveball when he was able to stay on top of it, developing change up. Very promising young arm who will keep improving. Very good student. Named to the South Prospect Showcase Top Prospect List.
