2021 Summer Main Event Showcase (Tues/Wed)
Austin Trupp is a 2022 OF/RHP/IF with a 6-3 180 lb. frame from Evans, GA who attends Greenbrier. Long and slender young build with plenty of room to get stronger. Outstanding runner, 6.52 in the sixty. Primary outfielder on defense, has big physical tools at the position with his speed, potential range and arm strength, gets nice carry on his throws with a long and loose arm action, also plays some infield with similar raw arm strength. Right handed hitter, has a good base swing with a on-time lower half shift into contact, swings hard and has some leveraged strength and bat speed, best when he's being aggressive and meeting the ball out front. Also pitched, hand drop delivery with a long arm circle in back and a high 3/4's arm slot, stays tall over the rubber with a high leg lift start to his delivery, gets downhill well out front. Fastball topped out at 84 mph, mostly straight with occasional running life. Curveball was a solid second pitch with good power and sharp 11/5 action. Excellent student.
