Nicholas Rampone is a 2018 OF/LHP with a 5-8 150 lb. frame from Mendham, NJ who attends Randolph. Compact frame with a lean, athletic build. Frame projects for additional strength while maintaining athleticism. Ran a 6.97 sixty-yard dash. Primary outfielder with aggressive, athletic footwork while closing to and working through the baseball. Fundamentally sound glove actions while funneling with clean exchanges. Generated good momentum to the bag while released from a three-quarters arm slot. Topped at 79 miles per hour producing accurate, on line carry to the bag. Left handed hitter with a slightly crouched, even stance and simple front side trigger. Creates shift into contact with linear lower half actions. Direct, compact hand path to contact with a line drive swing plane through extension. Primarily worked to the middle of the field throughout batting practice but flashed the barrel feel and balance to work to the opposite field as well. Also pitched, working exclusively form the stretch. Closes of front side to start and works to gather with slight coil over back leg. Front side lands back in line with the plate and carries momentum to glove side at finish. Loose arm circle at separation and released from a compact three-quarters arm slot. Fastball showed occasional downhill angle through the zone topping at 77 miles per hour. Curveball had 2/7 shape with solid spin and sharper depth when staying on top of offering. Utilized good tempo with rhythm while on the mound and consistently filled the zone and attacked hitters. Good student.
